View Full Version : It's just really hard to play well when Tony AND Manu aren't right

In 2013 Tony had a career playoff run until those last 2 games in the Finals. Last year Manu had a resurgent playoffs and was at times the best player on the court for the Spurs. Unfortunately, this season Tony has been wildly inconsistent, and Manu has been consistently mediocre/barely passable. It's not just the poor shooting, but also the awful defense (Tony) and the horrible decision-making (Manu).
One of these guys needs to wake up, otherwise the Spurs are toast. It may not be against the Clippers, but maybe against a stronger defensive team like the Rockets or the Warriors. One way or another, with both of these guys playing like falling stars we don't have much of a chance at a ring.

Yep..
In 2013, Parker was great/Manu was poor = should have won the championship
2014, Manu was really good/Parker was mediocre = championship
Spurs can afford to have 1 of them playing poorly, nowadays, but not both..

I've said it before. We need one to play "good" not even well. Just "good" and we win. Too bad they shitting the bed together.

Meh, both have looked done through 4 games. Wishing they just magically turn the clock back 5 years for Games 5-7 seems like an exercise in futility. Can't knock them....
What you can knock is a coach that insists to still run the entire offense through them despite having arguably the best 2 way player in the league. That's okay too as Pop has gotten old and seems to like doing his buddies a solid, and Doc/Pop are pretty buddy buddy......

And an injured Splitter. And a mentally injured Pop.

Lets run the offense through 2 of the worst players on the team. Lets see how that works. :lmao
