View Full Version : Finish This On Thursday

Disregarding the fact they'd have to go back to LA for Game 7, what would they have in the tank for Houston? Close it out Thursday and you'll get that much more rest.

Rest will be huge.

We still need splitter against Houston.

Random thought..Pop might even end up using Jeff Ayres against Houston. He's played great against Houston tbh.

Splitter getting healthier would be nice, but he's more of a luxury against Houston. It'll be a series for Baynes and Diaw, as well as Enrique if he suddenly miraculously recovers from his various maladies.

I asked that myself as well. If the Spurs win Thursday, hopefully the next series will not start before Sunday. Two days of rest are necessary if the want to steal a game in Houston as well.

I would think they tip off on Sunday if the Spurs close this out in 6. Just my guess though.

Agree with the OP, finish this on Thursday. Considering how inconsistent the Spurs are this postseason, a letdown game isn't out of the question. Being at home is huge, of course.

2 days rest vs 1 days rest? Definitely need to close this on Thursday then.

They have 2 chances two close them out, game 6 at home is the time to do it. A game 7 in LA with that crowd, it would be tougher than winning game 6. Got to take care of business on Thursday. This Clippers team is more a team they should meet in the WCF not the 1st round, that's how crazy the West is this year.

Blake played 41 tough minutes and obviously ran out of gas. That bodes well for us given the short recovery time. I will say, though, we got to get the lead and keep it tomorrow to force Doc to play Griffin big minutes. Part of Hack a Jordan requires Blake to play longer while he sits Jordan.

Houston won't be nearly the challenge the Clippers are should the Spurs win this series. Harden isn't nearly the play maker or defender Paul is. He is one dimensional. Josh Smith, Dwight Howard. Need I say more? There is no way Houston will out execute let alone beat the Spurs. Throw in Houston's injuries, there is no chance they beat the Spurs four times out of seven. You guys have an irrational fear of Houston.

If we close out this series: Hack-a-Howard and Hack-a-dumbass coming to a tv screen near you.

Dwight Howard: 52.8% FT
Josh Smith: 52.1% FT

Will be funny stuff

Kawhi will do a good job against him. The xfactor will.be how Terrence Jones, Josh Smith, Ariza and Dwight play. Plus the Rockets' ability to hit free throws since Pop will no doubt hack guys. Should be interesting.

Diaw should be able to force Josh Smith to shoot jumpers. Dwight Howard is definitely a mismatch, but DeAndre Jordan should get us ready for him. Trevor Ariza doesn't scare me bc Green should be all over him. It's nice to have Terry and Prigioni to hide Parker on. I'd rather focus on right now though, we still have another game to win to close the Clips.

He doesn't have Durant and Westbrook to bail him out. He's still a beast but Wing Stop can contain him. I'm more worried about Howard considering our bigs outside of Timmy have been trash

I think it'll come down to whether Houston's role players hit their 3s. If we do a good job of limiting Terry/Brewer/Ariza/Smith, we'll win the series. Let's just hope Brewer and Smith shoot their averages, and don't have fluke performances. Brewer isn't even a 30% shooter from deep, but he'll randomly have games where he doesn't miss. Same goes for Josh Smith.

Harden and Howard alone won't be enough to beat us, assuming we're playing somewhat well offensively.

04-29-2015, 01:05 PM
Had the Spurs passed the Clippers, I wouldn't worry about Harden much. I don't want to see Brewer's open 3-pointers and Howard-Smith high-low combination.

Harden doesn't have Durant or WB playing next to him. Houston best perimeter players after Harden are probably Ariza and Terry. As long as whoever is guarding Ariza doesn't leave his man, the Spurs should easily shut down the Rockets perimeter game.

Very important that they close out on Thursday. For one, a game 7 on the road is never something you want to deal with. Secondly, we could use all the rest we can get. Duncan has had to play a lot of minutes this series, and will have to battle with Dwight next round. Splitter still doesn't look 100%. Parker is on the verge of losing his legs if he keeps getting injured :lol Would be great for us to close out on Thursday and have 3 days off before the 2nd round starts on Monday.

Yeah, really no need to emphasize the importance of winning this tomorrow at home. Hope the 3's fall from Green, Beli, Leonard, and Mills and the floodgates open. No one wants to see the Spurs struggle to score in the last 3 minutes of the game like last night. Spurs really have trouble scoring down the stretch and they can't rely on Duncan carrying them or fluke shots. Just blow the Clippers out.
