View Full Version : Would you make this trade?

Would you take a Spurs championship this year, which would finally give the Spurs the elusive repeat, and more importantly, it would be unquestionably the most difficult path to a title in NBA history, but in exchange, the Spurs miss the playoffs for the next 12 seasons..

Would you take it?

The next twelve years would suck but yeah I'd make that trade.

No, I would take the ring and 12 more years of playoffs :hat

No. Make it a 3-peat next year with Duncan fMVP in both, then I'd consider.

Maybe :lol
i don't think repeats are that important but I'd love for this era to end on the highest note possible. Plus the league still owes us for 2012.

Malik Hairston

I think I would do it, tbh..beating the Clippers, Rockets, Warriors and Cavs would be pretty unreal..

Especially after last year's historic, dominant run, it would be such a great way to cap it off after 6

Yeah, don't really care about repeats, but just Tim winning his 6th with this tough a road would be a historical accomplishment, IMO.

Winning a title is a rare thing unless you're the Lakers and have the league, refs, huge payroll and the city of LA on your side.

It might be a while before we sniff a title post-GOATcan. Just look at the Bulls post-MJ.

Tough call, especially because it would stain Leonard's legacy....but yeah I think I would.

Agreed. We are in for a rough transition after Duncan regardless of Kawhi's growth.

No, because accepting that trade is basically acknowledging that Phil Jackson had a point.

Yes.
Tim getting his 6th and the repeat.

Kwa would bail to another team and 'ship with them.

if not taking the trade means that the spurs DON'T ring this year, then Hell Yes! I take that trade. Spurs ain't winning shit After Duncan anyways

04-30-2015, 05:20 PM
No. I want them to repeat as bad as the next guy, but 12 consecutive seasons of no playoff basketball would A) be incredibly boring and hard to swallow and B) would eventually tarnish the Spurs' reputation and diminish the repeat. Duncan's legacy would be forever cemented, of course, but twelve whole years? Eeeshhh.

1 year of orgasm over 12 years of shittiness..no just no, IMO.

I want to be able to enjoy the spurs in the next 12 years.

No, because I have faith that our front office can find some quality free agents and court them to San Antonio to keep us competitive.

I mean, consider next year we could have:

Parker/Mills
Green/Beli
Leonard/TBA
LMA/Baynes
Diaw/Splitter

That's a loaded lineup even if Tim and Manu retire.

Yeah, 12 years is pretty unrealistic with all those lottery picks+caproom+a decent core of Kawhi, Green, Splitter, Diaw and Patty. You have to believe PATFO would be able to build a solid team tbh.

With the walk up crowds we have, do you even think the Spurs could last in this town for 12 years without the playoffs which means 12 years of losing records?

TXstbobcat
04-30-2015, 06:11 PM
No way! that's a long time to go without getting to go to a Spurs playoff game. We would be living like Timberwolves fans for over a decade.

12 years is such a long time to suck... Idk if the city of San Antonio could even survive that long with shitty Spurs basketball, tbh

You rather have the team miss the playoffs every single year for 12 years straight and get one this year? :lol You are slipping Malik tbh if srs :lol

Yes. Teams go 10, 15, 20 years without winning a title. Some never win it at all. Any chance you can get to win a title, you take it.

What does a title even equate to with a fan? Just bragging rights? I rather have playoff basketball I can watch and go to than reading threads on this forum for the next 12 years about why we signed rondo, why we should trade khawi. Everyone here is retarded if they agree with Malik tbh :lol
In a year everyone would say 'why did we do this guys :cry the championship wasn't worth it :cry'

No. Spurs already have 5 in the last 16 years. One more for 12 straight years terrible basketball? No way. I'd take my chances with a great FO and a terrific building block in Kawhi Leonard.

No way, 12 years without playoffs turns the franchise into a joke

dg7md
04-30-2015, 07:55 PM
Probably yes. Having 6 NBA championships and the repeat pretty much establishes us as one of the greatest franchises of all time alone, and honestly, it's not entirely too likely we'd continue to make the playoffs that deep in anyway. Remember, we do have to start a transition process in the next few years.

Missing the playoffs for that long isn't going to stain the long term legacy as much as people think. The Celtics are still an historical franchise despite the fact they were complete garbage through most of the post-Larry Bird years and even discounting a few years at the top.

While I don't want Tim and Manu to retire, if we ring this year, it'd be best if they walked out on top even if it's probably feasible they are able to come back for a few more productive years.

I can't even tell anymore if Apa_9 and Malik Hairston threads are real or just stupid attempts at trolling... fanduel points, 12 years missing the playoffs... "please Pay attention to me."

Hard pick tbh. I want the repeat and then Duncan and Manu ride into the sunset maybe Pop will follow. Hmmm maybe if kawhi leaves after 2017 I'd take that. I wound't want his legacy to be 2 time champ then missed 12 consecutive playoffs

What if we did the Philly tank job delux?

Trade Kawhi to bud, . Meanwile, we continue to use spurs east to trade draft picks and make a glorified farm systems with the spurs as the intermediary club between the toros and the hawks. Then, when the curse ends, bud, the hawks starters, and the young talent from SA win both conferences and agree to share the next five championships.
