View Full Version : Starting lineup just can't create shots, tbh..

Everything on offense for the starting lineup is extremely difficult, tbh..

No playmakers, Green becomes useless when he's forced to create, and the Splitter/Duncan duo kills spacing, which eliminates Kawhi's biggest asset as a player..

The bench has been dominant, partly because they're playing against the Clippers terrible bench, but also because they have 2 creators(Manu, Diaw) and the hottest shooters on the team(Mills, Diaw)..the contrast between the ball movement and fluidity of the starting lineup vs bench has been laughable..

Pop: they're just being soft. Nothing I can do to adjust that

No spacing out there with Enrique. No one respect his fucking shot from anywhere and he can't drive to the hoop and then they just attack him on defense and then he doesn't switch off his man on transition because he could careless about help defense.

Is there a starting position that's supposed to create shots? I've heard about it but I'm a skeptic, tbh. Never seen it before, not on this team anyways.

Patty, Green, Kawhi, Diaw and Duncan need to play 40+ minutes in Game 7 or we lose.

It's comical. Clips are leaving him open on all jumpshots and he's bricking them every time.

Been that way all season. Danny depends on Tony's penetration, since he's awful at shooting on the move, unlike Reddick.

Tiago was alright tonight on D, but he gives next to nothing offensively and kills spacing like you said.

Danny was having a career year with Parker out earlier this season, tbh..he also looks better when he's playing with the bench, so far in this series..

Diaw coming in is necessary, at this point IMO..

Can't have a lineup with 3 players that can't shoot, it's 2015..

Tony has the most open shots this whole series. No one is guarding his bitch ass. Can he even make the open jumper anymore?

Parker and splitter in there is like playing 3 on 5. And to make it worse, he's started the last to games with Parker taking shots, and tiago post ups. They come out flat.

This. He adds both a shooter and a creator to the starting unit. Tiago actually plays best with Manu anyway. If Gino had been playing well, I'd say you could start him in place of Parker as an alternative, but he has been mediocre thus far.

Tony's ability to get into the lane at will has been what makes our offense go. Now that he can't, everything is a struggle. Kawhi, as good as he is, is not the kind of player right now that can just carry the offense. Parker looks done, and I don't see any other way to create offense other than Kawhi penetrating, which won't work consistently.

It really sucks at how important Parker is to making our offense go. He's the engine, unfortunately.

Manu was the guy in last year's playoffs, he was amazing, but he's too inconsistent nowadays, unfortunately..

Clippers have figured out that doubling Kawhi forces him to dribble out of trap. Since Kawhi cannot dribble penetrate and is not a great passer they can immediately reset their defense. This forces Kawhi to take a bad outside shot or pass the ball to another player with shot clock winding down and ultimately a bad shot.

two playmakers on this team.... Manu and Boris.

It was jarring to watch them at the start of the third. The Clippers walled off the paint and they mostly (particularly Parker) took turns attempting to dribble through a thicket of bodies, only to run into each other and then have to settle for forced mid rangers late in the shot clock. They made the Raptors offense look like theirs in peak form, a level they've never achieved this season.

At this point, Ginobili isn't much more of a creator than Parker and he's been extremely consistent . . . consistently bad, that is. If he doesn't have it anymore, that's fine, but his lack of focus and intensity is stunning.

For the first time since the early aughts, they have no lead ball handler/play maker, only this time, they have no prime Duncan to cover it up.

I'd start Bonner and hope he can buy Diaw the first 3-5 minutes, plus the brief moments Griffin rests. See how that goes in the 1st half. If it goes poorly, just start Diaw in the 2nd half and have him match minutes with Griffin, if he can avoid foul trouble.

Too many offensive liabilities in the SL.

They're basically relying on Kawhi or Timmy to carry them so when they have off nights things get ugly quick.

Parker hasn't done anything all series
Green isn't hitting wide open 3s
Splitter can't hit chippies.

If 1 of those 3 things change they should be able to win otherwise Pop needs to get another offensive option in there. Either Diaw or Patty, we need Danny for his defense. Pop isn't benching Parker so Diaw starting seems like the way to go.
