View Full Version : Conspiracy Thread: Monty McCutchen triggered the clock early on the last play

Contrary to earlier thinking, it wasn't a shot clock official who triggered the clock early in the last second of Spurs-Clippers game 7, thereby necessitating a reset and giving away the spurs' final play, which could not be altered the second time around. It was referee Monty McCutchen. McCutchen also called the foul on Duncan in final minute that gave CP3 2 FTs.

We can talk about the spurs not putting themselves in a position to win the game. That's one thing. But they were in it right until the final play. It's fair to say McCutchen's calls in the final minute essentially sealed the game in the Clippers' favor, and this was a particularly egregious mistake for him to make in a crucial moment.

rofl at having Matt Bonner in there and not using your other timeout.

It was a shit play call too. Pop should have called another timeout after the inadvertent buzzer and drawn up a 3 like Lillard hit last year.

What a joke of a series from the coaching standpoint.....

The ridiculous part was that they held the ball to let the Clips set their defense.

:lol had that happened to the Clips and they had lost the series in that fashion, ther controversy would be all over ESPN, Doc and players would have called the refs out in the post game interviews, all sorts of nonsense. Happens to us and we just take it like we're fucking supposed to and move on. Never leave it up to the refs.

:cry classy :cry
suck off of the Clippers.
He started the post game presser with that before being asked any questions.

As to the 1 second rip off and calling another play, he simply said "Not a lot you can do with one second".
Go retire already you farking quitter.

Historically it seems the Spurs always have to play on another level to overcome bs reffing. I have never seen the Spurs ever get a bs call in their favor towards the end of a crucial playoff game.

It's not like you can keep the TO. Take the TO and call up another play. Get a 3pt or something.

Bonner didn't cut. Pop was screaming at him from the sideline to get going, and he just stood there looking confused.

So for all you people calling Pop a dumbass for not using the extra time out. Are you telling me you'd keep your mouth shut if Pop used it and Boris got a 5 sec violation on the ensuing play? Because the Spurs have been real sharp and late game in bounding situations this season, right?

You keep the time out so if you can't get it in on the 4th second, you still have another chance. I'd rather the ball be in play, than not find the court at all. You have a 0% shot if you don't get the ball in.

I know man, last game of the season and you don't call another TO to set up another play? I was shocked at that part.

No fucks given. The Spurs lost the game when Chris Paul left the game and they couldn't build the lead. That part is true there, they also should have won the ting in game 6 and not come to this (Up 10 at home and lost it). Don't give them a chance to fuck you and you won't get fucked, period.

Don't know whether McCutchen intentionally did anything or not to influence the game, but the thing that fuels the conspiracy is no one is really talking about the inadvertant clock start/buzzer. The official's report doesn't even mention it. Pop downplays it. It's like everyone got a "protect the game" memo immediately after the contest was over. The only one I can think of is Skip Bayless, but everyone knows he's a quack.
