View Full Version : OT: Mayweather: I'm willing to give Pacquiao a rematch

Floyd Mayweather told ESPN's Stephen A. Smith in a text Tuesday that he would be open to a rematch after Manny Pacquiao recovers from shoulder surgery to repair a tear in his rotator cuff.
"I will fight him in a year after his surgery," Mayweather texted Smith on the heels of his unanimous decision over Pacquiao in the richest fight ever.
Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache told ESPN.com on Monday that Pacquiao will have surgery later this week (http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/12821905/manny-pacquiao-surgery-significant-tear-rotator-cuff-right-shoulder) to repair a "significant tear" in his rotator cuff, which he suffered prior to the fight. The surgery will sideline the boxer for at least nine to 12 months.

Makes sense business wise, but 100% Manny wouldn't make a difference.

Manny was more respectable than I figured, winning the middle rounds I thought, but I don't care to see a rematch after the way Floyd dominated him in the later rounds.

I never bought that. It was a pure financial decision from Mayweather and the fact that Pacquiao and his team avoided drug testing like a plague.

They can't charge $100. But it would be an easy sell at $59.95. Casuals (mainly, Pacquiao fans) are already eating up the injury excuse.

I blame it more on Pacquiao. I get the shoulder excuse, but Mayweather just did his part. Anyone who thought he'd exchange blows with Pacquiao are stupid.

This. Last Saturday 5 years ago next year still the same shit. Manny will throw more after surgery miss a bunch more PBF, wont knock him out and wins a unam decision but the score may be closer this time ....

PBF still wins and more bitching and excuse making will follow ...

As i told Cry I could not imagine a world where Manny beat PBF. He doubted how I could be so sure, hopefully he saw why on saturday ...

pacquaio ruined it for all the casual boxing fans out there. they were expecting him to force floyd into a slugfest but instead he looked very average against TBE. its sad how manny just let floyd do what he wanted in the ring. i don't mind dropping another $100 to see floyd make him look stupid but i think the casual fan has finally learned you can't bet against greatness.

Those weight classes are a snooze fest pretty much and have been for a while now. I do like boxing though and have been a fan for a long time, just not most of Mayweathers fights because the outcome is known before the fight even takes place and all the fights go the same. He is a boxer they said, not a fighter (Which is not bad and I agree).

I like to watch the undercards and other fights man. I know a dude named Thomas Williams Jr who is a light heavyweight and from my area and his fights are entertaining and I watch them all, he has one loss in his career and I can't wait to see him step out there and fight again in June. I am a fan of boxing though.

Blatant scam by the judges. Right off the bat they were giving him 10's for Rounds he spent covering up in the corner.

I knew right away the fix was in. If you watched Saturday with no pretenses or "this is his strategy" you would admit Mayweather got his ass kicked

Here is my issue

The only way Pac would be granted victory and belt is if he floored Mayweather (atleast once). Yet Floyd isn't held to the same expectations. He can just "do his strategy" and squeak out a Win. So the judges hold a bias and score accordingly.

:lol I've been saying this for months, and people here doubted me, tbh..Pacquaio never gave a fuck about winning this fight, he was only in it for the money, it was obvious from the onset..you don't have to believe the rumors about his bank account if you don't want to, but he definitely wasn't in a position to miss out on a $100 mil, can't blame him:lol..

And Trill, boxing is dead, because a sport's appeal is based on the casual fan, tbh..that's why it's even more impressive that Floyd just took $150 mil from all these casual fans that paid just to watch him lose, not knowing he's virtually impossible to beat and that he's a defense-first fighter:lol..just robbed all these people without even trying, they're begging for anybody to beat him, and it will never happen..

Seriously, manny was done 4 years ago. here's a perfect comparison since Manny is younger than Money...

Pacman - 35 year old Parker
