View Full Version : Retooling the coaching staff too, tbh

ElNono

It's time, tbh.... We're just never going to win a championship with yes men like Boylen and Udoka, tbh...

And that whole Becky experiment we already know it was a PR stunt... just give her a graceful exit like "Austin Spurs coach" or "Executive VP of kitchen operations", and move on...

It's time to bring back the big guns... PJ Carlesimo, Jacque Vaughn, etc.

Agreed, I was thinking about Boylen lately, I mean what exactly can that pumpkin do? But Pop is a weird guy and has too much control over everything, maybe he is happy with the coaching staff who knows.

Real-talk. Messina needs to go. Udoka's gonna be on that bench for another 10 years. Dude's done a great job with Leonard and especially Green.

Don't expect any coaching staff change.

As far as players are concerned I don’t know if it’s quite a surprise but I continue to be amazed by Tim Duncan. He was our most consistent player in the playoffs, at 39. He needed a little more help and I feel badly he didn’t get it
But then Pop talked about injuries, the future, Manu, Tony, Kawhi, and nothing about his coaching in the series...

Does Pop not have any self-criticism to make?

I'd say slim to none - he's been quite successful his first season away from the nest dude.

True, he's been on my shitlist ever since. Then again, looks like Leonard also forgot about himself in the last three games vs. the Clips.

Vaughn was a big gun? Wasn't he an unpaid intern when he was behind the spurs bench? I think Hammon might have been higher up the totem pole this year than Vaughn ever was if I'm not mistaken

Messina: I'd be okay if he left.

Boylen: If we found the right replacement....he would be out the door also.

Becky: No comment.

I agree, the PR stunt is over, she needs to be demoted to head fluffer. Bring back Don Newman, PJ, and/or Mike Brown IMO.

I said it when it happened, The hiring of Backy just to get simphaty from media will hurt us, it was bs, unprofessional move that distract the team... Easiest oportonity for a title we ever had got wasted by pop being not seariosly about the season... The title was given away for free by pop, If you are a real fan you should be feeling right now like you want to die...

This is a dumb troll thread. Nice work nono for the easy bait.

The coaching staff is pop. There is no one in the basketball world who would come in and challenge pop on a critical call. To say messina failed is silly since he really didn't do anything tree whole season.

Once you get passed the first two coaches you're looking at execution rather than strategy: running practicteaching skills, etc.

Becky said earlier her duties were running practice and scouting. Maybe Becky was the reason we lost to nyk and every other bad loss. I don't think we know that so I'm not going to blame her.

Boylen is a yes man. But that's fine. I'm sure he can run practice as well as anyone.

Btw, the second ranking coach " the team is Duncan. And Tony Parker doesn't need coaching since he won a fmvp.

We have no earthly idea if the staff were filled with yes men.
We have no idea what the true role any of these assistant coaches played as 95% of what they do is off the TV and on the practice court.

Wow...
