On the flipside, none of these leagues exist without paying customers. Nobody would even know who Kirby is if there weren't people willing to pay to watch him chuck a ball at a rim. So fans can say "we" all they damn well please, IMO.

Meh they can say "we" if they want. Everyone else seems to imply "you" when they talk about a team losing, or "we" when they brag about a team winning. Saying it or not saying it, the implications are the same, you're tied to them unless you have an alt for every team and just switch it up like some here do religiously.
