View Full Version : OT: Pro Atheletes Who've Been Swindeled, Filed For Bankruptcy, or Will Go Broke Soon

Low financial literacy makes many athletes susceptible to getting scammed or suffering losses in high-risk investments. Low financial literacy shows up in a poor understanding of how investments work, what constitutes realistic returns and reasonable fees, and how advisers are supposed to interact with clients.

A college education doesn't guarantee financial success. For athletes and others, some vital money lessons are learned the hard way.....

Mike Tyson
Terrell Owens
Allen Iverson
Michael Vick
Lawrence Taylor
Manny Pacquiao
Antoine Walker
Lenny Dykstra
Deuce McAllister
Latrell Sprewell
Scottie Pippen
Steve Francis
Stephon Marbury
Dennis Rodman
Pacman Adam Jones
Tim Duncan :lol

Yep, Tim invoked that pre-nup and she went and told on him. Then, THEN, then he paid her.

The kicker? He grudges her---her millions, but, then a year later loses $20 million on speculation.

Oh, yeah, he's a gem of a man.

At least Duncan is still a millionaire. He made 200 mil in the NBA, gave back 199. He won 6 rings, gave 1 back.

If he had even a cent over a million bucks, he wouldn't be betting guys 500 that he'd make a 3-pointer. What a joke.

Lost in the Colorado case and Shaqobe feud I forgot until "my muse" that happened. I give him credit for owning his culpability in that miscarriage even if doctors and his wife told him he was not the blame. He never said it but I bet that was the son he never had ... Most "human" I ever seen Kobe ... even more than crying at his press conference with his wife.

As for being duped ... plenty of people smarter than Timmy have been swindled ... I think being cucked is worse, tbh.

Damn dude. I feel sorry for Jim when I read your sig. Just think... he would have never even known had it not been for Amy shaking him down in private last year. Imagine this. Jim has this iron clad prenup to prevent his cheating wife from getting a dime. During their divorce she claims to have damaging information to destroy his clean image. Jim bribes her with a gag order but in the process of trying to hide some of his assets he finds out he's getting fucked by his own financial advisor.

When it was all said and done everyone got theirs. The mexican got his gym. Amy got a fat settlement and child support. His business partner kept 20% if the investments. And Jim kept his secret a secret.

Unlike those niggas, Duncan is a smart guy and he knows how to spend his money wisely. Dude's life is incredibly frugal and low-profile for a celebrity of his caliber imho. Even though frauds and the illegal immigrant had taken away a big deal of money from him, he still has more than enough money to sustain his lifestyle for at least two thousand years to come, imho.

Reebok apparently saved Iverson's drinking, gambling self from a lifetime of autograph signings.

As part of his divorce proceedings, it was revealed that at the peak of his career, Reebok set aside a $30 million rainy day trust fund for Iverson. The problem is, he can't touch it until 2030, when he is 55 years old.

http://www.celebritynetworth.com/articles/celebrity/bankrupt-allen-iverson-has-a-15-million-reebok-trust-fund-that-he-cant-touch-till-2030/

Dunno what figure is right here, but I've seen interviews in the past that indicated he wouldn't end up like Pippen.

Also Tim's case isn't resolved yet. His wife may have gone behind his back, but if it means he gets to keep 100% instead of 50% the whole thing will look a lot more alpha in the long run, and that's what matters.

Really the NBA does a pretty good job of helping its players hang on to some of their money. In the NFL things are much sadder.

They were selling your championship gear on the tv. Yeah. Can you imagine:::switch it out, replace the Spurs with the Lakers,,,sell our shit one minute and then the next minute we're gone. We'd never hear the end of it. You? Hell, aside from this old cocker nobody ever said a word about it.
