He's a RFA; the Bulls will match any offer a team gives him (if they don't give him a 5-year max deal themselves). Highly doubtful that he leaves Chicago, and he's sure as hell not coming here.

Bulls will match any more made to him, guaranteed.

why is this surprising, they've been handing out max deals to garbage for a while now...

I don't think Butler is garbage. They would offer him that though, LA gets desperate. Who would want to go to that shit hole right now? They are not going anywhere for a few years IMO.

a rectified rondo, kobe corpse, juiced jimmy, risky randle, and lucky lottery lineup has a fierce dark horse smell to it. kobe would get his hail mary opportunity. i'd actually fear them more than the rockets or grizz. although, not as much as the warriors, clipps, and pelicans. i'd put them right around maverick status.

Lakers front office is a joke but even they never gave Smush Parker a $45 mil deal. We did.

the lakers will have the contract pumper role this offseason.. Danny Green, Jimmy Butler, Kris Middleton. They are sure to give them max or close to contracts and likely struck out.
