View Full Version : Worst Adam Sandler movie you've watched

IronMexican

Let's just hold it to the ones you have personally watched.

I've never watched Jack and Jill, so with that in mind, I am going to say Blended.

Worst: Mr. Deeds.

Why dont we list the best of his that you've watched also?

Best: Click and Spanglish

Basically a tie there.

Click was all over the place with it's story. I thought it was bad, but far from his worst.

Probably because of the nostalgia, but I enjoyed Happy Gilmore. It's a ton of recycled jokes and the same shitty cast he would use for the next 20 years, but I enjoyed it as a kid.

I like Sandler but the worst Happy Madison production I've seen was Bucky Larson. I haven't seen a few though like Jack and Jill, That's My Boy, Click etc...
Not a big fan of Big Daddy tbh.

You Don't Mess with the Zohan... holy shit.
I saw it at a midnight premiere, and I was one of the few laughing. it's pretty high on my guilty pleasure list :lol.

If Billy Madison were made today it would be everyone's number 1. Holy shit go back and watch it. There's plenty of funny parts but EVERYTHING in between is cornball bullshit. Fuck nostalgia, it holds up about as well as a banana sitting in the sun

Some good choices so far. Don't mess with the Zohan, 50 first dates, and That's my Boy are all strong candidates.

But I'll go with:

I've been fortunate in that I've only seen a handful of his movies. Included were Punch Drunk Love (great), Spanglish, Funny People, Grownups (all pretty good or Ok). So I gotta go back to Bulletproof.

50 First Dates...
I thought Sean Astin was funny in that. But the worst Adam Sandler scene that I've ever suffered is when he does the fake crying in the restaurant.

Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2 are fucking terrible.. how you assemble a cast like that and completely bomb is unacceptable.. the comedy was so cheesy and stereotypical.. I don't know how many idiots I heard quoting the "I wanna get chocolate wasted" line from the first one.

As for 50 First Dates and Blended, I didn't mind either one, but definitely not movies I'd watch w/o a woman.

Only film of his I enjoyed was Billy Madison, but it's been a decade since I've seen it. Like has been said, I have no idea if I'd still like it.

Not sure I've seen a Sandler film since Funny People (which I gave a chance to because of the R rating), other than pieces of Grown Ups here and there.

But as has been said already, Funny People was truly horrible.

LOL at this thread discussing and comparing Sandler's work in Grown Ups compared to Billy Madison.

Like comparing DeNiro's subpar Ronin vs Taxi Driver.

I watched Grown Ups with my daughter and her friend. It was easily worth the $1.99 to sit there and have a couple of laughs and not worry about graphic sex or violence. Hard to find comedy movies in that ratings range that you can watch as a family.

Anyone that pays to go to the theater to see any movie with Adam Sandler is just a dumbass.

LOL. What recent work? I did see whatever that was when he went on a trip with his family and it was fine.

It wasn't as funny as Friday or as poignant as Boys in the Hood. But I can't really sit down and watch those with my daughter.

Being a parent means you are going to have to settle for some subpar movies IF you want to watch something with your kid. So there is always a qualifier in my mind.
Yeah, that was good FOR a cartoon.
Yeah, that was OK FOR a kids movie.
etc.

It's not like I see the trailer and think, "oh SNAP, Toothfairy 2 is coming out motherfuckers!!!!" But in my head, I'm thinking that that I'd rather see that than the Hanna Montana movie.

Yeah. That's a good age for movies. And with that newer crop, the producers were kind enough to throw in some jokes for the parents. Shrek was a great movie for any age. LOL at Super Buddies. I've seen all of those plenty of times.

It's gotten better now that they are turning a lot of the teen books into movies. The Hunger Games were all pretty good. And we'll watch R movies with her if they're for things like language or minimal violence. And there have been lots of PG 13 horror movies recently. Most suck but some are all right.

But those years in between were filled with...well...Toothfairy, Air Bud, and yes...Grown Ups.

Punch Drunk Love doesn't even qualify as an Adam Sandler movie; that's Paul Thomas Anderson's doing. It does show how creatively bankrupt Sandler is, since he displays talent, yet decides to do shit like Jack and Jill. Red Letter Media did a great takedown of Sandler. (http://redlettermedia.com/half-in-the-bag-jack-and-jill/) It's definitely worth a watch.
