Let me put it this way.
If you had been told last year that in the 2015 playoffs:
Irving would break his leg
Love would break his arm
Alridge would break his hand
Coonley would break his face
Wall would break his hand
Matthews would break his ass
Beverly would break his leg
Ellis would break his leg
Sefolisha would break his leg
cp3 would miss 2 and 1/2 playoff games
And the spurs would lose in round 1
What would you call that ? :lol

Pop would've kept playing Parker and Rockets over Spurs in 6. Book it.

Thanks pop for the choke job of the century. Wait that goes to 2013 tbh. 2015 is a close second. Tony parker out there like dleague material.
Pop was mentally exhausted. No other explanation for why he strayed from the blueprint by refusing to bench our DLeague PG.

Enrique was killing the team so no, we didn't let an opportunity to repeat slip from our fingers.

Players were hurt in round one and Tony playing like crap on top of being hurt, little rest going in to round two and playing a well rested Houston team would have caught up with the Spurs IMO. They didn't have it this year, let it rest.

A banged up and mentally exhahsted spurs would not have beaten a motivated rockets team
I mean that rockets comeback had everything to do with the rockets than the clippers choking. They played the clippers 10x more physical than the spurs ever did throughout the 7 game series
Yeah, well....shit happens.
Let's go repeat 2016 and 2017 instead.

OP is right, but no bad feelings.
Just like Simmons said: The Spurs are always the champs...they are just bringing other teams over some/most of the years. Just like the Undertaker did in WWE (pre 2013).

If Kawhi would've made one free throw against Cleveland, we would've played Dallas. Who knows what would've happened against the Clippers that time around :bang

Better than being allergic to championships, like 80% of franchises.

This season was proof that regular seasons matter. I don't the Spurs ever recovered mentally from all those fucked-up OT losses early in the season.
Still, it looked like they might be poised to turn a corner in the postseason. And then Pop played his ill-conceived hack strategy in game 6 and it was all over.
Miscalculations matter.

Idk, I kind of lost faith when we lost that must win game against the Pelicans. I figured if we couldn't handle an 8th seed when we needed to the most, how well would we fair against the other top West teams. The only team I actually would feel comfortable with us facing was GS. I had no confidence facing Houston. I wasn't too sure how we would match up against the Clippers. All I knew was losing that last game against the Pelicans killed us in the seedings. Wasn't confident running the table as a 6th seed out West.

It was of course looking good for a repeat before Tiago went down at the end of the season. Whatever momentum we had was lost. It came down to the last second of a Game 7 and the refs letting the Clips see the play. We won't be repeating in the Tim era. We were just the most winning team in all team sports. That measure of excellence is hard to complain about.

This wasn't his best chance to repeat, that was in 2006.

Sadly anyone could have predicted that the Spurs couldn't be bothered to repeat. Their being so tired and all, or what was their excuse again?
Next year would have been the year to 3peat, and so on and so forth.
Your 40 year old players won a ring last year.
