I think Cavs win but Hawks would not surprise me. I see it going 6-7, this is not a cakewalk... Atlanta should be considered a tougher matchup than Chicago since they have some semblance of pace/space on offense.

None of his coaching in the playoffs has stood ot. He still plays Pero Antic too much sometimes.

They've only got this far because the east is so terrible. If they were in the west they would have lost in the first round.

They won 60 games for the first time in franchise history and they're in the ECF for the first time in franchise history. They haven't looked great in the playoffs but they've gotten the job done, and that's all that counts. I honestly don't know what more you'd want at this point.

Atlanta is going to have to more than their average to beat Cleveland. That's one of the major things. We all know the officiating favoritism but most of all, you must contain the clinic. This is the true test to see if Atlanta actually has any balls to take this conference from the league's darlings.

With that being said, Cavs in 4. Atlanta is going to have to show me.

D-Wade
05-20-2015, 01:34 PM
The only way ATL stands a chance is if Korver wakes up from the funk he's been in since he stepped onto the court during the 3 point contest, and if Teague is actually aggressive. But still, Cavs in 5 or 6

They're pro players... Saying they're shitty is presumptuous. Just because ESPN isn't up a player's ass with a microscope doesn't mean they're not serviceable.

The Spurs are made up of primarily these types of players.

Go down the list, having 3 superstars on one team is rare.

~O~
05-20-2015, 09:27 PM
The officiating is giving Cleveland plays to score and Atlanta less plays to score. Simple logic. How do you expect a team to score when the officiating is gifting the opponent opportunities that didn't earn to score?

Bad offensive foul on Millsap, a non call on a loose ball foul and a charge that all resulted into the opponent scoring because of the officials incompetence. I would definitely not be complaining if the right call was made.

Lebron doesn't need a dominant big like Shaq or Pau, he just needs to be surrounded with shooters, and Cleveland has plenty of shooters. What he needs is another wing that can create his own shot(Wade in Miami, which he has in Irving, Kyrie, and sometimes shump. The team may be built differently than your conventional team, but it's perfect for lebron.

You're proving my point..all you need for Lebron to get you to the Finals is shooters(makes average players like Shumpert and James Jones look decent) and defenders around him..

Outside of Duncan in '03 and Hakeem in '94 and Lebron in '13, every other player on the all-time lists needed another superstar next to them, some of them(Magic, Bird) needing completely loaded teams..even Dad Killer needed arguably the greatest perimeter defender and one of the 3-5 best passing forwards of all-time next to him..

Much easier to build a team when all you need is shooters and defenders(which this Cavs team doesn't have, their perimeter defenders are average, at best) around your star(same way Spurs built their team in 2003)..

One thing that is interesting about Lebron's career is that whenever he's been eliminated it's always been to a team that has atleast an all-star calibur 7 fter. He's lost to the Piston's Wallace, Magic-Dwight,Celtics-KG,Spurs-Duncan,Mavs-Dirk. It seems that you have to have an above average 7fter to take him out. I think the Warriors will beat the Cavs but it will be interesting to see if the Warriors are the first team to break this trend.

Still, you never know what can happen at this level, but regardless the dude has gotten them back to the ECF and that's no easy feat with Kevin Love on your team. It's easier for Lebron to drag him along than to play along side him I think.

LeBron's main weakness is a athletic shot blocker at the rim who has the explosion and more body size. It makes him have to change his shots and makes it difficult to finish through contact. Dwight was made of steel when he was with Orlando. Now he has injuries left and right.

Yeah that's true but I would also add Duncan,Rasheed Wallace,KG all tended to bother him defensively in the paint and none of those guys are really built like steel. One thing they all had in common is their length really bothered Lebron. Your right you either needed a built super athletic rim protector like Orlando-Dwight or long lengthy 7fters like Duncan,KG,Chandler,R.Wallace to bother Lebron.

Smith is going to have to be hot more than not. However, the Hawks should have played with the urgency and respect of their opponent that they would have gotten hot. When I say respect, they should have been prepared to make big shots to compensate for it. Plain and simple...they just soiled the diaper.

LeBron was superhuman in that series. Problem was the Cavaliers didn't have anyone who could remotely handle Dewey Howard, and they didn't have anyone who could guard Orlando's squadron of over-sized shooters. (Other than LeBron, who spent that series shadowing Rafer Alston for some reason.)

Put it this way: when the fans are screaming for Sasha Pavlovic to get big minutes you know you have serious matchup problems. That Orlando team might as well have been designed specifically to beat the Cavaliers.

You have to limit LeBron to beat him. He scored 49, 35, 41, 44,37, 25, in that series on points. Factor 20 to 40 percent of his points were freethrows, in each game....of course. Then factor in his field goal percentage which progressively worsened during the series. Then most of all, factor in his fluke media hyped supporting cast (Mo Williams all-star)..then boom. You're exposed.

This is true, in hindsight, but it looked like they finally figured out how to utilize Love and offense, and they looked potentially scary, tbh..Lebron is also significantly better when he's playing with a stretch big, as we have seen for the past few years, including his poor playoff performance(by his standards), so far..

Okay I see what you are saying there, I still think they are not that great IMHO. They are a good team but honestly I never saw them coming out of the West and was shocked they made the conference finals to be honest, thought if Wall was healthy they are at home right now sitting. I never thought they had a chance against Lebron, with the other two out as you mentioned they surely don't have a chance now. Love is out and Irving is banged up too though so don't forget that, if they are 100% as well they win the series vs. the Hawks even with those other two.

I don't think the Hawks are that great, just my opinion. I think they lack the star to take over games or a series when it comes down to it. They do play good team ball though I will give them that, if they caught fire like say Detroit did in 04 they had/have a shot but I doubt it.

DC were a bad match up with them I agree, if wall was healthy they might have lost. However they matched up well with Cleveland. Beating them pretty easily the last three time they met. They had Carroll and Thabo for Lebron, Teague and Schroder for Irvong/JR, and Millsap and Horford were mobile enough to get out on Cleveland stretch 4s. Clevelends loss of love really isn't as impactful as Atlantas loss of Thabo even before Carroll went down. Now as you saw today, when Cleveland went small they had to put Millsap on LeBron instead of before maybe sliding him down to the 5 and putting Thabo in on Jr so Carroll can guard lebron. It's kind of like when we lost Danny or Kawhi last year(13-14). It created all kinds of issues with the lineups. It's a bummer, I was hoping for a good series.

He'd hurt the Cavs more if he drove tbh

Especially if Lebron is in the passenger's seat.

It's never brought up enough how much of a jabroni Antic is. On any non-intentional foul,he bitches about it. Every call, even on the bench.

I've never seen Lebron this enaged. Normally he's fine with taking moments off. He's dialed in and wow.

This might be the worst officiated postseason I've ever seen...

Where is Millsap and Horford. They should be feasting. Teague needs to take more on too.

Looks like Hawks will have to wait another year for a conference championship. I was really pulling for them.

So far, so sweep. Plain and simple, the Atlanta Hawks do not have the guts to play through terrible officiating and LeBron James. Spurs on the other hand.

Once you have players hesitation and lower percentages on shooting, that's a sign of weakness and confidence. Broken plays and non crisp passes. Other signs of weakness. Most of all, playing beneath your expectations while the opponent has barely half its starting lineup on court; another sign of weakness, beta minded approach to the game.

The Hawks should have the Cavs buried but they're playing just like the Bulls played the Cavs. Completely lacking a will to win. A will to dominate.

You know what else.....they aren't ever first to the ball.
