Yes. I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons and the Internet is winning.

:lolNo. I just want to see if I can do it. It's like everyone is so addicted to the Web and social media. I remember I did just fine without the internet growing up.

- Would catching games at the Sports Bar count? You aren't in possession of Cable. Cell phone without data?

If you ditched your cell phone, I would be really impressed

And watching at sports bars is what I had in mind. Need a cell phone for work but I'd probably remove the internet and just leave talk and text.

Basically, the internet is like any utility now. It can be done, but like water, electricity, hydro. The question, why would you want too.

Your phone is connected to a Network which is essentially part of the internet. You'd have to live without networking through your phone also unless you download games or certain tools that don't utilize the internet.

yeah, but I'd have to leave the city..

Probably go back to our tiny little village. Swim, be lazy for a year...

But why would I though..Unless I'm offered a huge amount of money, it doesn't make sense to go IMO.

It's not basically, the Internet is a utility. After net neutrality passed it has been reclassified.

Interesting experiment there was a blogger who actually committed to doing this for a year and did it. He had someone video tape him for a year. One thing he said it made him feel for a period of time like a drug addict recovering from serious addiction. A few times it got so bad he cried due to his brain wanting the internet so bad. He did say eventually he got to the point where his brain rewired itself that he no longer needed the internet to satisfy him psychologically.

I lived about the first half of my life without the internet.

If you are that dependent on the internet, you have problems!

tbh when it comes down to it, anyone can live without the net if they put their minds to it.

But no TV on top of it? Fuck no. The fuck would I do?

There is only so much you can do with friends and shit.

I guess you can bury yourself in work but fuck that kind of stress.

Easily.

But I would have to quit working.

Bunch of city ass boys that don't like outside.
I could easily camp, fish and hunt. And I would like it By God.

I only watch TV for sporting events.

camping, fishing, and hunting is great with internet. being able to google manuals is a godsend.

OP doesn't fish...so I would assume the camping and hunting is out of the question also.

I love the outdoors...but even with that said....I don't think I could go the full year without Internet or TV. A month (maybe two) tops...

no I meant manual, as in an operating guide. i don't get your joke though. you'd have to explain it better to get to the punchline, tbh.

Like if you were googling, "Manuels" while you were camping. So instead of looking for guides on different aspects of camping, you were looking for images or possibly hookups with Manuels. So maybe you wanted to get your gay on. Or possibly hire someone to come out and do the chopping or whatever. This wasn't a joke for everyone. But the one or two people that got it are dying with laughter.

Camping is better than TV or Internet though. People weren't designed to sit around and watch stuff for such a large portion of their lives. I love TV but it's got to be one of the most unproductive things one can do. I'm pretty sure on my deathbed, I'll wish to have spent more time being outside or just contemplating life or something. Instead of watching a bunch of millionaires put a ball in a hoop. Makes no sense really.

Living without cable is easy. There's so many streaming options now that it is a huge waste of money to pay for cable packages that I never watch. The only thing I miss are sports, but those are easy enough to stream online as well. But because of that, it'd be hard to lose the internet (don't give a shit about social media though).

I got rid of Facebook over a yr ago but that's no biggie. stopped posting here as much but again no biggie. I think about all the minutes wasted on pointless shit when I can be studying more japanese tattooing or tattooing in general. It's all about priorities and at the end of the day, sitting on social media, etc will not advance you as a human being.

I haven't watched cable in years outside of sports or some other big event, so that would be easy. I couldn't do Internet though. I keep in contact with a lot of friends through social media etc.

I make my living on the internet so it would probably be impossible. But I preferred a time growing up when I wasn't on it as much, but I'm on it 10+ hours a day with work. I've gone away from social media because I've learned to hate it despite still posting on here. I hate almost all aspects of social media now. People endlessly follow feeds with various political rants, pictures that only highlight the best aspects of someone's life with multiple attempts to produce, etc. many people will follow celebrities or other famous people and try to mold their life after that than living their own. They see rappers only posting gold chains, stacks of money and think they need to work towards that and end up failing or getting in debt trying to match someone else with cars or anything. I know people who literally will take out phone multiple times in a few minutes to get their latest update from their 3000 "friends" to like some random post. A majority of ththe internet is a cesspool, including some of this forum tbh
