The draft is in June. The Spurs can't talk to Aldridge until July. Plus Splitter is a pussy, why does New York do that deal?

Lol @ thinking they'd trade it for Parker or Splitter, let alone both of them, when they can spend ~$17 million (combined salary less salary of pick) on a max contract.

What the Spurs roster need most:

- A big blue collar guy who can rebound and finish by using his body, basically someone who can make everyone his bitch down low. Someone to clean up all those rebounds when Green and Parker start shooting bricks in the post season. Duncan can't do it for prolonged periods anymore, and Splitter can barely jump and run.

- A reliable back up SF

- Young blood

- Someone with a bit of attitude, we need an enforcer/asshole on this team. Someone to let the rest of guys know when they are playing soft. Someone to lead with toughness. Too many introverts on the team.

- A point guard who doesn't give up.

Parker + pickswap (4th to the Spurs, 26th to the Knicks)

Knicks get
Parker
26th Pick

Spurs Get
Jose Calderon
4th Pick

Knicks get Parker while adding only $6 million to the cap. They would save $2.4 million in terms of draft pick salary.

in total they would add $3.6 million to the cap.

They would still have $24.4 million in cap space.

Spurs save $2.6 Million get a backup PG and the 4th pick.

I second that. And why would the Knicks trade for a PG of all things when the best prospect likely to be there at that slot plays PG?

Not to mention at $8 million per season less that they can spend on someone else.

Agreed, don't know why some still think Parker is going to net them a good return if they trade him (Especially after last year). He won't get you jack shit in return at this point of his career unless you find a real idiot to trade for his name alone.

It`s only for one year. Then cap sky rockets and 36 mil for Parker and Melo are less then half of cap. Parker is still an upgrade over Calderon, and Knicks arent goint to rebuild through draft anyway.

If the report is true about Monroe being " a done deal" it seems like they are going for a secondary star in FA. Assuming he makes around $15 million they would still have around $10 million [if this trade were to happen] to throw at a couple of players and then the room exception ($2.7 million). Doubt Parker has much trade value given his age and mileage but aren't really better PGs in FA that aren't locks return or restricted, so there's that.

Spurs fans are truly dumb if they think they can get the 4th pick for one of the worst players in the NBA. Rookie Mudiay and Russell are already better players than Tony Parker. Fuck, Langston Galloway's a better point guard at this point. Knicks will have a better point guard rotation than us after draft. Why would they be interested in Porky?

Because they were slated to go number 2, and the top two prospects are in a tier of their own?

I honestly don't see the big deal about the Knicks falling to 4th. It's a weak draft.

Because a lot of people see it as this...

There are 3 great players...and they're all going to get drafted 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Kinda shit outta luck with the 4th pick.

Probably should have only said two great players tbh...Okafor and Towns.

Russell from Ohio St., Winslow from Duke, Cauley-Stein from Kentucky, and the kid from the Congo (idk who the fuck he is tbh) are going to be all be selected very high, but I wouldn't put them in the same class as Okafor and Towns.

First, there are not many players on our roster that would yield a top 5 pick. Pretty much Kawhi, and maybe Parker, and neither of those guys is likely to get you a number 1. Kawhi could get you a top 5 because he is young. Parker could only get you a top five if a team desperately needed a PG and they were in win now (usually not the case if they are in the lottery). Diaw or Splitter could potentially get you a low-level lottery pick depending on the other team's need, but that's about it. Second, it's hard to tell where NY is. You'd think they are win-now because PJ needs to turnaround the team fast to keep his image as basketball genius. Also, Melo is past 30 and is at the win-now stage of his career. At the same time, the rest of the roster is awful, and the Knicks are probably better off drafting a young talent and trading Melo for young talent. Phil's just in a tough place landing all the way down at No. 4, but he was due some bad karma after meal ticketing off of Pippen, Jordan, Shaq, and Kobe. And so, I'm not sure we could really land that draft pick, and not sure why we would trade a point guard (none on the FA market) to draft a big question mark who probably is not a point guard. Basically, any trade with Parker that doesn't involve getting another point guard just creates a big hole in our roster.

Exactly, plus as someone said nobody is giving up SHIT for a 33 year old player who is declining. Some need to just get over the fact he is a Spur and will get paid for a few more years here whether they want him gone or not. Parker might be falling off now but he is here for the long term.
