Hey cubby man, you never told me if you're pissed that Nash's flop may have cost you a chance to sweep the Cavs in 07.

But I was talking about 2009, the 22 game streak was in 2008 and they were 53-29 in the 2009 regular season, this Rockets team was lucky enough to make it to the Western Finals.

That team was not fool's gold, they suffered injuries or else they may have won back-to-back titles.

The 2008 team went 19-7 down the stretch with the ageless Dikembe Mutumbo as the starting center and the short and offenseless Chuck Hayes getting the majority of playing time at center. They were broken and beat down as the season went on--if Carl Landry didn't get injured, the 22-game win streak may have lasted longer (he was routinely putting up a double double during it). Battier played late in the year knowing he needed surgery at the end of the year. The way they were playing when Yao went down and even immediately after, no one was gonna stop them. Win another few games and they would have been the 1-seed.

The next year, they lost T-Mac and still advanced out of the first round for the first time in over a decade. In that series, they lost Dikembe Mutumbo to a career ending injury then lost Yao 3 games into the next series against the eventual champion Lakers...and still forced them into a Game 7 after winning two more games.

So yes, they very well may have won back-to-back titles if they were not bitten by the injury.

That's the one where Battier was chasing Kobe all over with that huge "Beat Kobe" binder. Though Bats had no trouble solving Duncan in '13. tee, hee.

Any rocketfan who says they had a chance with the Lakers that series. It wasn't a matter of a play here, or a play there for any of the Lakers wins. Every win that series was a skunker.

Yeah Lakers sleptwalked through the series and turned it on when it counted the most in game 7.

If the Rockets didn't lose so many of its players, of course it would have had a chance. Even a healthy Mutumbo would have made a significant difference. By Game 7, the Rockets starting center was Chuck Hayes. They were down T-Mac, Yao and Mutumbo.

So as I was saying, they were an injured player or two from a title.

Of course there would be locker room problems for a second straight year. I don't see Dwight coming back.

Yeah, but Batts only solved Duncan for one play.

Yes it was.

But still, no room. Kobe has been solved by Austin Croshere, Tayshaun Prince, Rip Hamilton, James Posey, Tony Allen, Jason Terry, and your own Raja Bell (twice).

Duncan is chess. And Kobe is Tic-Tac-Toe.
