Say the 1989 or the 1993 version.

They have big men who can pass, can shoot and score in the low post in Brad Daughtery.
They have an athletic PF who can rebound and block shots (as well as score inside and make the occasional open jumper) in Larry Nance.
They have a dead eye shooter at PG with Mark Price, not to mention a great floor general
They have a third big who can come off the bench to rebound and block shots (and shoot a little) in Hot Rod Williams
In 1989, they have an athletic SG in Ron Harper who can defend, shoot and pass.
In 1993, they have another athletic SG who can defend in Gerald Wilkins, as well as a backup PG who can drive to the basket in Terrell Brandon

The main knock on them is the lack of a dynamic SF, but many teams in today's league got by with less.

Can they make the 2nd round, ECF, Finals?

They would make the playoffs

The east used to be 100x better

They would rank above the bulls and hawks

With the way today's game is geared toward point guards, Mark Price would probably be an MVP candidate nowadays. He wouldn't have guys like Cliff Levingston, Antoine Carr, Charles Oakley and Rick Mahorn beating the crap out of him on a nightly basis like back in the day.
