AOE II is the gold standard for war pc games. Still every bit as fun as it was in 1999.

The only WW2 strategy game on PC I've played is CoH, and it's good. It's small scale, but good. Rome 2 is my favorite of the Total War series, as I am more interested in Roman shit than Chinese or The Huns..

Also, if you haven't played Wargame: Airland Battle, or Red Dragon yet, get those, they're the shit too. They're both Cold War era.

Actually the Delta Force series was the best gameplay for multiplayer. Voxel terrain engine, you could go all over as far as you wanted and snipe or whatever. Basic shit from 15 years ago and had sequels that were ok, DF2 was the best (introduced grass you could prone in with a ghille suit, damn near invisible) but then all the aimbots and hackers started mass fucking all the servers. Went to shit.
