Was looking at Tim Duncan's regular vs Post Season performance and noticed he performed a little worse in the playoffs, but then remembered he was hurt. Then decided to look at our top guys and found it to be pretty interesting.

Here's what I saw:

Tony Parker( Shocked me a little)

Manu Ginobilli(noticeably better in most categories)

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=272&avg=48 (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=272&avg=48)

Bruce Bowen(becomes a better 3pt shooter, but does worse in about every other catagory)

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=83&avg=48 (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=83&avg=48)

Robert Horry (notice the huge increases in shooting percentages)

Notice how many minutes Parker was playing... they just kept going up as the playoffs progressed. This is probably a big contributor to him sort of burning out as the postseason went on. With Van Exel on board I can see a serious improvement to Parker's game.

Manu and Horry raised their games during the playoffs, no doubt.

Both of them playing better than their regular season production were keys to the championship.

Nevertheless, during the playoffs, Duncan actually still carried the offensive and defensive load for the team, more even than the regular season. He shot freethrows better, scored a few more points ppg in the playoffs, rebounded better, played 4 more minutes per game and did it all on bum ankles! Dude is the man.

Brent Barry

3-point percentage (regular season)
35.7%

3-point percentage (playoffs)
42.4%

So. . . .why is everyone so anxious to trade him?

He can still pull his weight around here, if he were to start declining over the next two three years, then being old would be a better argument, at least in my eyes.

The only reason the age thing came into effect was because everyone wanted to keep Devin, because he's younger. . .

I agree... i think it took him loner then expected to find his rhythem with the new team.
But 2005/06 should be a great season for him! i can't wait -finaly we'll see why everyone and thier momma was after him to sign last offseason. :smokin

that's exactly what was going on, 34 is NOT that old, neither is 35 for that reason. It's opbvious that his problem last year was'nt age, it was the adjustment to a new team and system. That and the expectations everyone had about brent when he came on board.

awesome, barry started the trend of key free agents WANTING to come to SA, i believe he was quoted as saying that his reason for choosing to come to SA was that SA was his best chance for a title.. :smokin
Van X and Fin are more than welcome to jump on the Brent Barry bandwagon

34,35,36 is retirement age for most guards, lets be real.

37 is DAMN old for a guard, and 40 is ancient.

Well Robert DID say to check out his Reg Season numbers with those of the playoffs and that they were almost the same.

This after Tim accused him of coasting through the reg season... :) -- I know it was in jest, but you have to admit -- Horry's numbers are pretty much the same --

I always thought that too -- when he was with the Lakers everyone kept saying that Robert doesn't play till Apr May Jun -- but I guess he just put in a LITTLE bit more in the playoffs.

Man, I remember when I used to hate the guy -- know he's one of my favs players....

soooooooo glad he's on our team now. Who would've thunk it.

Now with Finley and Van Exel -- man I am so hyped up for the upcoming season, i can't see straight ;)

Nice post BTW

That's what Rasho said one year before Barry, so you could say he started it and they are all on his bandwagon :)
