They should retire the parka he'd wear on the bench during playoff games.

Ouch. Probably shouldn't retire so soon. He bolted for the Jets after a Playoff lose to them

Rote, Alworth and Hadl won us a title. Seau carried us to a Super Bowl. LT had some nice regular season stats.

Who is the best Charger of all time? Where does LT rank?

Junior Seau, Dan Fouts, Kellen Winslow Sr., Lance Alworth???....hell even Antonio Gates should be somewhere up there.

I'd have to go...

1.Lance Alworth...he was the first AFLer to be inducted into to HOF. He scored 87 TD's and had over 10,000 yards. And everyone knew he would have been the best receiver in the NFL in his day. He was totally amazing.

2.Kellen Winslow...he was the first "GREAT" receiving TE, no not Mackey or Ditka.

3.LT...a strong case can be made for him being among the top 5 running backs ever. His stats say so.

Then ya can debate...Dan Fouts, Antonio Gates, Philip Rivers, Junior Seau.

You must mention...

John Hadl
Paul Lowe
Charlie Joiner..HOF
Ron Mix...HOF
Keith Lincoln who scored...

PAT
FG
rushing
passing
receiving
punt return
kickoff return

So we can agree that LT is a top 5 Charger of all-time....correct?

Why the animosity toward having his # retired? I know CN is quick to bring up the lack of playoff success (and he's 100% correct), but it doesn't mean he wasn't one of the best to ever suit up for the Bolts.

I can agree, not a fan of his but he was a great running back during the regular season.

Only Emmitt Smith had more TD's and yards combined than LT when it comes to running backs. All those HOF backs pale in comparision.

162 tds, only five players in NFL history have over 150.

BTW....

:worthy: Lorenzo Neal

One of the most amazing sights I've ever seen on a football field was sitting in the stands at Lemoore HS with his uncle Willie Neal***, as Lorenzo ran over around and thru high school kids, he dragged guys 10 yards, dead serious. Like a bull in a china shop.

*** Willie (co worker) ran with Tommie Smith on those Lemoore HS 4x1 teams.

I like Wes Chandler and James Brooks man, although Brooks had his best years by far as a Bangle he was still good in his earlier years as an all around back. Winslow is a legend! Charlie Joyner is a HOF player as you said and even held some records at one point I believe. That list is pretty good.

BTW Joe Washington who played for the skins around 84 too? I remember him as a youngin.

When Joiner retired he was the leading receptions leader in NFL (actually started off in the AFL) history.

The Chargers have had a lot of great offensive players, their problem was always on the defenxe.

Then ya can debate,,,

Marcus Allen
Emmitt Smith

2006 was their best team. They should have won it all that year. They would have thrashed Indy at home if they didn't choke against the Pats. That team was loaded.
