Quote:

"West adamantly opposed a trade centered around Klay Thompson and Kevin Love. West argued that trading Thompson would be an enormous mistake. The Warriors were built on defense and Love, while a skilled offensive player, was a subpar defender. What’s more, West was certain Thompson would continue to improve, giving the Warriors a potential Hall of Fame backcourt for the next decade.

West felt so strongly that, according to one person close to the negotiations, he threatened to resign if the team made the trade— when the most successful talent evaluator in league history feels that adamantly about something, it’s probably worth listening.

A source with knowledge of the negotiations counters that, “The deal was done. And Jerry put his foot down.”

The GOAT GM doing GOAT things ...

And freaking Phil pushed his ass out of L.A. ...we are lucky we still won a title after that bullshit. Respect Phil but he will never be over Riley in my book for that shit. his ego ran amok ...

80's and 00's Lakers, all Jerry West. I dislike the Lakers but I like West as a player and GM. The guy gets the job done. Certainly built a good Warriors team over the past 4 years.

Love is just a prime David Lee plus 3pt shooting tbh. Klay has flaws in his game but just like West thinks dude can still improve, and Curry wouldn't want him traded either because with him hypothetically gone, Curry would probably face double team all over the half court on the offensive end, and it'd be extremely difficult to find him another shooter as clutch as Klay is. Badass 3pt shooters are rare talents in the league today even Korver made the all-star squad this year, and Klay is 2-3 times the player Korver is.

Very much so, he has an eye for talent, and he knows how to build championship teams. That def hurt when he went to gs.
