Mathews is a retard.
Depending on where LMA ends up, he's either a must sign or a GTFO..

If the Spurs get Aldridge and Danny leaves, is there any way the Spurs can also sign Matthews? I know he won't get $15M, but what about like $11M?

And some posters here believe Green isn't worth 10M a year :lol

A team or two may offer $9 or 10 mil on a 1 or 2 year contract, but $15 per year 3 or 4 years, I can't see it.

Matthews at $15 million doesn't make any sense even if his career hadn't been ruined a few months ago.

Why would you want to sign Kobe Bryant essentially? Well, Kobe Bryant minus the cancerous attitude, but still?

I never really saw him as that kind of player, more of like a plug and find easy shots player like Danny is.

Who comes back from achilles tears? Billups was garbage after, Bryant has about as much elevation as Duncan now.

No - there is no chance. If the Spurs sign and trade, that means they are over the cap and only have the MLE to spare. If they use cap space, that means it's on LA and would have no where near enough to sign Wes.

Dawn of the crippled, hundreds of injured players asking for insane money, even Greg Oden wants to comeback.

Maybe 7-8 mill. Hard to see him getting more coming off of a major surgery.
There was one guy who was overpaid while having achilles injury. It didnt end well.

I think you mean Hamstring injury.

Just a case of guys and their agents seeking some of that new money a year early. And if teams have the space this year, they just might be willing to give it. I don't know about $15M for Matthews...just speaking to the premise in general.

He won't get it coming off surgery but Matthews is a better all-round player than Green, he's a better finisher, dribbler, he can post up etc.. . A healthy Matthews at $15m puts Greens value in the $10-$12m range

:lol :bobo Good luck to you Wes Matthews, your torn ACL's will tell you to STFU, and accept your 1 year 9M offer to verify you're healthy enough to warrant a deal.

He's not a better player than Green. He's a finished player who will probably have a marginal career for 2-3 years and then teams will no longer be willing to throw money at him based on once being good.

I like Matthews, but he won't get that much money. And Portland probably spends more than people are willing to pay (given his injury) to keep him. If his injury is serious enough that he is not the same, then I have to wonder what Portland is thinking. Why do they give so much money to players that are ticking timebombs for career ending injuries?

GL to the team giving him that much tbh. Agents will try to squeeze as much money as they can before signing a long-term deal right before the new TV deal.
I don't see WM getting that much coming off an injury.

It's called negotiating. The fact he "wants" $15M doesn't mean he won't settle for less. Hell I want $25M too!

Do you ever pay asking price on a vehicle??? No. 15 mil is his asking price. Anyone not named New York Knicks will talk him down until the price, value, and wallet match. Sheesh, you all are harsh on the poor young man!

If you're talking about his injury we'll have to wait and see. He was significantly better than Green up until his Achilles injury.

I see that Portland has been easy on their drug testing throughout the year.

And he's pretty likely to be significantly worse than Green after the injury. Let the Lakers pay for past accomplishments.

I agree. I think pre-injury Matthews was worth around $15m, and my point is Green is worse than pre injury Matthews which puts him around $10-12m.

Yeah, it's pretty hard to argue against that with the contracts Gordon Hayward and Chandler Parsons got.

He'll be lucky to get half of that. If you're going to shoot for the moon might as well ask for a max deal.
