1
Muhammad
Prophet of Islam; conqueror of Arabia

2
Isaac Newton
Physicist; theory of universal gravitation; laws of motion

3
Jesus Christ
Founder of Christianity

4
Buddha
Founder of Buddhism

5
Confucius
Founder of Confucianism

6
St. Paul
Proselytizer of Christianity

7
Ts'ai Lun
Inventor of paper

8
Johann Gutenberg
Developed movable type; printed Bibles

9
Christopher Columbus
Explorer; led Europe to Americas

10
Albert Einstein
Physicist; relativity; Einsteinian physics[1] (http://wikiislam.net/wiki/Muhammad_and_Historys_100_Most_Influential_People# cite_note-1)

Names of lifelong celibates are bolded. Of the top ten most influential people in human history, 6 were confirmed celibates. Ts'ai Lun was an eunuch who lost it at a very young age, so he was as much of a celibate as those religious figures, and Newton's celibacy was as well known as his second law of motion imho, and the list doesn't even include other respectable celibates like Da Vinci and Zhang Sanfeng.

Charles Darwin left off that list is unbelievable. ( Wiki Islam go figure) He should be 1 or 2. Darwin's books completely changed the way we look at ourselves and at that time spread across the modern world.

And don't bold him...

Actually a very cool topic Franklin.

Probably not a plethora of celibate inventors.

Agree, Darwin's position should be higher. Maybe there's a strong anti-atheist atmosphere in the western culture, which unfortunately counts against Darwin's rep imho. But still, there's a reason why more than half of the world's greatest 10 personalities in human history happened to be celibates, tbh.

Buddha had a son dimwit. And to further waste my time, I don't think that Gutenberg was celibate either. I think you're making up shit. And now I can say I've spent 2 minutes learning about Ts'ai Lun. Who I don't find any confirmation on his celibacy.

And we still have four hardcore celibates on that list - Isaac, St. Paul, Jesus Christ and Ts'ai Lun. Lun got castrated when he was only 18 and in ancient China there was no way an 18yr old boy had lost his virginity tbh. Lun was the inventor of paper.

So now one of them is a forced celibate so that doesn't really count as abstinence. There are plenty of rumors that Newton was not celibate. So we're down to 2 that might have been celibate for religious reasons. And Jesus was rumored to be married.

Charles Darwin left off that list is unbelievable. ( Wiki Islam go figure) He should be 1 or 2. Darwin's books completely changed the way we look at ourselves and at that time spread across the modern world.

As is often the case, biological evolution was in the "great minds" of several contemporaries of Darwin, but he got singled out, esp for his Beagle trip.

The discovers of DNA?

Discoverer of anti-biotics?

Discover of vaccines?

Discoverer of the LASER?

Discoverer of electricity?

Discoverer of radio?

The group who developed WORLD-CHANGING quantum theory?

Jesus would be obscure by now if He hadn't been marketed, with the usual marketing LIES, ad nauseam, by Christian "ad men" fighting against other, competing worldviews.

LOL thinking universal law of gravitation was Isaac's only contribution. Newton also was the co-founder of calculus (the other being Leibniz). The greatest celibate of all time made great achievements in almost all these basic fields such as optics, math, mechanics, as well as philosophy and theology. He was even once in charge of the British Royal mint... You would be considered extremely successful only if you could do even 1% of what Isaac achieved, tbh.

When I was in high school I sorted out a math problem using the so-called L'Hopital rule, and I hadn't learned that rule yet at that time. I just differentiated both functions on both sides of the line and then I supposed that the ratio of the two derivatives would be the right result, and I was correct. Therefore, if I were born before L'Hopital, the rule would've been named Mark Celibate's rule, tbh.

The Fuhrer was as straight as you are. He spent his last several years of life and died together with Eva Braun, who was female. He certainly had been with several bitches, but his mind was so strong he managed to abstain from doing with a woman what animals do tbh. Only the greatest people could quell such natural temptations with their remarkable mental power, imho.

This is why I said two lists. Inventors and thinkers.

And your ignorance of Darwin is understood. He was not the only one who had the idea about Natural selection. But that book.... that book. So full of unbelievabley clear examples and at the same time pointing out the shortcoming (he had no idea how genetic variation arose) could ONLY have been written by a man who had it all together.

No one, nobody, put it as clearly and eloquently. It blew people's faces off.

This is what you get from only reading textbooks Boots, and not understanding the full story. He was rushed by others to get it out and it was still dominating in its logic, examples, and pointing out the need for further study.

Its more than the idea, it's how it is presented to the masses.

Down to the basics I would give it to Joule. He was a physics inventor fellow who sparked the idea of work and energy as a concept. And then you got a number of Phyisics/Chemists who worked out some important ideas in Thermodynamics. And then all the tinkerers (technology folks) to put it together.

Makes it more understandable why Darwin would not make the top 10 though.

Darwin was a pretty shy guy and was very cognizant of the implications his books would have. So he put it all together and let other better speakers explain/defend it. That's the only reason I could see for leaving him off. Einstein had to do the same though as he was not a great writer or teacher. Darwin was able to nail common folk.

The impact of where humans came from... Jesus, there is very little bigger than this. It gets our "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" crew all balled up. If nothing else, he has shown the tremendous inertia of people who don't want to learn; And indeed, brings out the best in people who thrive on living disingenuously.

I just saw the 2015 R&R HOF induction ceremony and SRV went in this year. Double Trouble played a couple of songs with Gary Clark Jr. and John Mayer. Clark is a badass. Mayer does a pretty good impression of SRV voice wise.
But neither could really do justice to an SRV solo. And to their credit, neither really tried.

While Mississippi does get a lot of props for being the birthplace of them blues, Texas did have the first male "star" in Blind Lemon Jefferson. Then there was Bob Wills about a decade later, and since the 40's Texas has had so much talent, SRV one of the many examples of that.

SRV with Double Trouble about as good as a three piece band gets. Hell, another Texas trio ZZ Top might disagree.

It's Peanut the Kidnapper. He was a rather obscure piano player from Alabama. Recorded three or was it two records?

Them old blues choked full of cats like that, one-three records then back to the shadows they emerged from.

There's a difference between "changed" and "influenced". I don't know anyone who was influenced by the Wright brothers. I know plenty who think Jesus is a real invisible cool bro with holes in his hands and feet, a beard and Doobie bros hair style. Muhammed, niggas killing themselves and others for this fake ass faggot.

Inventors? No. Their inventions changed the world, but influence is different.

Tesla owes his ideas/inventions to Michael Faraday and James Clerk Maxwell.

Faraday carried around coiled wire in his pocket to just think about it. Tesla rode these two IMO and would be more of an inventor as would Faraday. James Clerk Maxwell was not of this world much like Newton and Einstein.
