I'm not sure why that would be "finally," as if the Spurs haven't needed to get better through the draft in many years.

Why way back in 2011, they needed a draft pick to reopen the title window.

I guess that *technically* Kawhi was not a Spurs draft pick; he was an Indiana pick that the Spurs acquired via trade.

Regardless, clearly the Spurs have used the draft as a means to improve in recent years.
