Has anyone noticed how when left and right's get into the "bush sucks, well clinton sucked too" debate, that the right almost always brings up Reagan as being a good president?

Why is this? Either these people are young, misinformed, or jackasses.

Dude seriously, Your a complete dumbass. Reaganomics worked!

'nuff said..

Actually, Reagan was a pussy. When the Marines were killed in Lebanon, he refused to just leave the rest of them there and STAY THE COURSE, and he brought them home.

Those last 2 posts are SO weak... so weak.. for one we have plenty of good threads where people posts some thinking on the issue.

First response is not a Federal issue.. it's a state issue idiots...

The mayor and governer STOPPED water and food from getting to the convention ctr.

THIS CAME FROM THE DIRECTOR OF RED CROSS who had food. water and personal hygene kits just a couple MILES away from both places. But where stopped by LOCALS from going to the scene..

SO SHUT THE FUCK UP

Please stick to the topic, don't focus on those who did not stick to the topic. Its tantamount to Conservative talk shows focusing on how Liberals are politicizing and doing wrong things.

so why do you think neoultracons and ultraneocons are popping up all over the place and making it sound like Reagan was a godsend, almost like a pre-Bush.

Reagan was a nice guy. That didn't make him a good president.

He ballooned our federal debt tho'

NOTE:
Notice the leveling off in the Clinton era. That was one of the few things that the GOP majority in the house pushed him into that I liked. Too bad when the GOP got the white house they went on to balloon the debt to dangerous levels.

Revenues went from 50 Trillion to 85 Trillion per year, under Reagan. That made the debt insignificant.

Oh, yeah, notice the Reagan tax cuts also resulted in income tax revenues going from 25 to over 38 Trillion dollars? Wow, how'd we get that debt, anyway? Oh, yeah...A Democratic Congress.

eh billion
Ooops, my bad. Still his tax policies raised revenue...and, still, it is Congress that spends money.

Hmmm...leveled off about 1995...when a Republican Congress took over. Proves my point, I'd say, about Congress holding the purse strings. And, all bets are off after 2001 with war costs and all.

Recent US history has shown that the most desirable situation for federal fiscal responsibility is a Congress controlled by the GOP and a Democratic president. One would have thought that GOP control of the WH and Congress would have led to some serious fiscal restraint but apparently GOP congressmen have a problem saying no to a GOP president. Put a Demo in the WH and they seem to understand their alleged ideology.

Reagan's tax cuts did ultimately help lead to a significant increase in tax receipts, but unfortunately a Demo Congress spent it all and then some, though Reagan went along with a lot of the domestic spending increases to get his agenda passed.

To turn a blind eye to the Demo's role in ballooning the federal deficit in the 1980s is the act of boorish partisans, of which we seem to have plenty in this forum.
