And people are really scoffing the idea of Green at $10 million a year?

Damn that was quick. Replacing Batum decently enough.

Portland clearly expects LMA to leave.

Aminu is actually a really solid role player, but sheesh...$7.5 million/year?

TheGoldStandard
06-30-2015, 11:32 PM
It's a great payday for him but that's kinda high for his skill set. He's 3&D without the 3

Not sure if serious. Aminu is a garbage player with no shot who put up a lousy 5.6 ppg last year. This is going to be a high dollar summer and this contract pretty much nails Green in the $10 million a season range at the bare minimum.

Green is getting 11 mil minimum per, book it

crc21209
06-30-2015, 11:33 PM
Yeah if he got 7.5 mil a year, Green will fall somewhere between 10-12mil a year range. Unless someone highly overpays..

5PPG and 5 Rebounds last year......yikes 30 million lol

Mr.Bottomtooth
06-30-2015, 11:34 PM
I like Aminu, but the guy is basically a Tony Allen lite. Overpaid.

Marcus Bryant

Yeah, reminiscent of McCombs circa 1992.

When the new tv deals kick in look out.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw Woj's tweet.

Goes to show the climate of the NBA right now.. Everyone is getting overpaid

Every year. Every fucking year teams start unloading tons of money on marginal players. Holy hell.

With a $90 mil cap next summer this will be an avg contract.

With a $90 mil cap next year this will be an avg contract.

Which is why I don't get the idea of shipping Green out when they can lock him up now. And $10 million a season will be dirt cheap.

So what's coming next? Charlotte agrees to terms with Belinelli on a 4 year, $40 million deal?

At least this takes POR outta of the Aldridge sweepstakes. Dat nigga really gonna come back to play with Al Farooq Aminu? :lol

FAs need to be using Tony's contract as the benchmark in these negotiations tbh. Although this is a good contract he could've had more if used that one simple tactic.

Damn, it's great to be an NBA player right now :lol. Not only are you getting paid, but people are justifying it!

Yeah... Green is going to get paid. I think Portland just took themselves out of the Green sweepstakes though.

Nathan89

This isn't nearly as bad a parker. He's 24, lengthy, athletic, excels at defense. Dude isn't the worse at 3's or fts either.

The rumors of a below average player like Afflalo getting 10+ mil are frightening, tbh:lol..

Shabazz
07-01-2015, 12:37 AM
I've always wanted him on the team...some day maybe..

Aminu shoots lime 27 percent from 3pt range, averages like 5 pts and 5 boards a game, and is a tweener with no real position.

This contract is absurd.

Malik Hairston

Aminu is the new Chris Wilcox/Hakim Warrick/Anthony Randolph/every young, athletic player that every fan of every team wants to acquire during every off-season, tbh:lol..

DPG21920

This deal is essentially the new MLE.

Ahhh I remember Anthony Randolph.. "if only he would reach his potential"

Malik Hairston
07-01-2015, 12:44 AM
There's always the long, athletic defender that shows flashes, and every fan thinks, "my team will allow him to reach his potential"..there's probably like a 10% chance that the player in question will learn how to shoot consistently or reach anywhere close his potential, based on the history if this league..

DPG21920
07-01-2015, 12:45 AM
True, but if his defense is actually legit, paying someone the MLE to be your primary wing defense isn't a crazy idea. I agree, I wouldn't do this deal. It's a combo of climate making this deal not to bad while at the same time it being ridiculous that a player like Aminu gets this much money. Not mutually exclusive :lol

Malik Hairston
07-01-2015, 12:48 AM
I think Portland is in semi-tank mode, tbh..makes sense to take a flier on a player like Aminu, they don't really have much to lose..

SpursFan86
07-01-2015, 12:49 AM
Yeah this deal isn't great, but it's not terrible either.

The Knicks giving Afflalo $12-13 million/year...now THAT is fucking awful.

If Afflalo actually gets anywhere near that, it would immediately become one of the worst contracts of my lifetime, tbh:lol..

Only side note is that if this is POR tanking and LMA is not going back, Spurs have a great shot. I don't think that's the case in POR's mind though. I think they like him and feel he replaces Batum, especially if Batums shot is broken like last year.

Malik Hairston
07-01-2015, 12:57 AM
I don't think they're actually tanking, I meant "semi-tanking" as in playing younger, riskier starters, and knowing they could miss the playoffs in the West..

Plumlee and Aminu, for example..a lot of potential, but probably downgrades from Lopez and Batum(assuming Batum of last year was an anomaly)..

Lillard
Henderson
Aminu
Aldridge
Plumlee

still makes the playoffs in the West, but probably around an 8th seed

Without Aldridge, they miss the playoffs, but at least they have some young players to try and build around(Lillard, McCollum, Plumlee, Aminu)

So we have established Green as at least a $12 million a year player in this climate. He's gone, the Spurs won't pay it. :depressed
