Yep. Lin, despite limited upside, actually would be a good Spurs. Smart and hardworking. As long as its cheap...

Mills being in the LMA meeting makes me think he's unlikely to be gone. But stranger things have happened.

This would be a great Marco replacement. if you can't bring CoJo back, then you have a guy who can play PG, and SG. He would thrive in the Spurs system.

Eh .... He's a guy who needs to handle the ball to be effective. Still has issues with turnovers. Don't think he's a great spot up shooter.

Would could do worse, but not my first choice.

He's anything but Manu. Manu has a much higher bball IQ. Better shooter, much better passer and defender.

He's not even close to old Manu.

Old Manu? What about new Manu? I'll give you better defender but that's about it. What good is a high bball IQ if you won't apply it to your limitations? Manu refuses to make the correct basketball play because he still believes he's "old Manu". Aside from his terrible decisions his shot selection has deteriorated. I truly believe he is one of the most intelligent players but he's letting his pride get in the way of his current level so the high IQ is meaningless.

I agree there's no need to sign Lin. But let's not pretend that he's a severe downgrade from Manu. I will say that Manu's ball handling is superior to Lin. Lin is weak with the basketball if he's not attacking.

Lin not that athtletic, but he has excellent basketball IQ and you can't leave open in the 3point line. He could thrive in the Spurs offense.

I think if nobody offers him a decent salary, the guy is going to sign for the minimum.

Mills isn't really a PG.

Besides, Boris Diaw and Kyle Anderson are better PGs than Mills.

Manu was a way better basketball player last year than Jeremy Lin period.

Hes a decent spot up shooter. Not sure what games people have been watching. Has played in garbage systems with garbage players. He would be a nice addition for the bench. Would definitely be abbetter playmaker than anyone we had last year off the bench besides Manu. Manu had a horrible year trying to be a playmaker tho. It's why the guy wants to retire, his body doesn't keep up with his mind anymore. Lin can pass good too

First I read about him this summer was he was waiting on Aldridge to check the spurs out. So he either wanted to play with him, or he wants money.

Nathan89

Lin would definitely be looking for a team with a guaranteed role for him.

Lin is an average player that gets extra credit for being Asian, tbh, let's keep it real..

He's mostly useless without the ball, and his media/fanbase is a potential distraction, too..

Please, pass..

Look Im not a stat expert like most of yall but all I did was look up player efficiency and Lin was 11.9 Manu was 11.1. I'm sure people can really break down some numbers. I'm not but be my guest. I'm not living in the past with Manu and I'm not a Manu hater. I'm just a realist. Once again I don't want Lin either.

I want Cory to stay too. But a lot of people here seem to think he's gone for sure. I've been one of his biggest supporters because he plays defense and rebounds. I just wish he would take the same attitude with him on the offensive side. He's improved but his lack of confidence is frustrating.

He's gone if they are to sign Aldridge outright. No cap space available.

dbestpro

Cory has much chance of staying with the Spurs as LMA does with Portland. in other words, he is gone. We cannot afford to keep him.

I like Lin. I've watched him play since he was at Harvard. I think he would be better in a time-limited, limited responsibility role.

But he's probably going to want more money and a bigger role than the Spurs can offer (2nd or 3rd PG depending on match ups).

Yes. If I had to guess, other than the obligatory phone call (hey, would you take the min/room exception this year and get paid next year?) the idea was to give him some chunk of the cap space had Aldridge not agreed to sign.
