View Full Version : The San Antonio Spurs have signed 3 of the most coveted FAs on the market...

...in 4 days.

They locked down a FMVP and reigning-DPOY within hours of the period starting.

They got an outstanding loyalty deal from one of the best 3-and-D players in the league who easily could've chased a paycheck elsewhere.

And now they've secured the most coveted free agent on the market, and possibly secured a new franchise player to keep the window open.

I feel like this shit deserves its own thread. This just doesn't happen. This is the Spurs we are talking about.

Can it be October now? :lobt::lobt::lobt::lobt::lobt::lobt2:

We all just take Timmy for granted at this point. The man is the ULTIMATE team player.

my only concern is loosing both Splitter and Baynes, they are 2 good defensive bigs, and baynes has size to go against the strongest Centers on the league. Do you think we can convince Perkins to come here for the minimum?

Wish we could somehow get Hibbert, rather have him than West to be honest. Probably too much bucks though.

Great offseason regardless of who else the Spurs sign. Great job by PATFO and Duncan taking another significant pay cut. Only had to trade Tiago. Simply awesome.

I'm ecstatic about getting Aldridge. But think how big it is to have the perimeter defense to go with him. GSW isn't going anywhere, so having Kawhi and Danny on the floor is a big, big deal.

This has got to be the best offseason ever. Okay, drafting Duncan was better. But this is pretty damned amazing.

I've talked about Hibbert on another thread. I think he COULD be a good addition. But he would have to do a full 180 from the last couple of seasons. If haven't been keeping up, he just quit on the Pacers, but kept putting on the uniform. The old Hibbert would make the Spurs a defensive powerhouse. The recent Roy Hibbert? I wouldn't want him in Austin. He's a big risk, to say the least.

Free Agency grade: A+

Just the grade that I want to give the FO right now, 'cause obviously we still need to address other areas of the roster like bench, front court, etc. But right now, it feels great to be a Spurs fan.

Unbelieveable signing. Starting lineup of Duncan, Aldridge, Leonard, Green, Parker. Utterly amazing feat to do what we did. We all thought to get LMA we'd have to let go of Green. How did we do it. Fucking brilliant. Lets hope David West signs on to play for the second unit to fill out our list of bigs. He is tough as nails and can do it all. Brilliant offseason.

West would be the cherry on top.

Still waiting to see what they receive back from Atlanta too.

Room for improvement for Kyle Anderson and LJC is on the summer league team.

Think about what swapping Splitter out for Aldridge will do for Parker's game too. Yes, Splitter is great in PNR but floor spacing now will open things up for Parker in the paint. Let's hope he doesn't lose another step.

Damn, signed Aldridge without having to give up Green, Diaw, or Mills. If Manu comes back this would be the absolute best case scenario we could have hoped for at the beginning of free agency. And then David West might come here on the minimum too?

he is friends with Timmy,....so Duncan could "reform" him

i think if Hibbert joins the Spurs, its an automatic NBA title, hehe

i think the power of visualization of the Spurs fans helped bring in LaMarcus, hahahaha

now lets turn our sights on "recruiting" another one while the oven is hot

Also of note is that Aldridge's option is after the 3rd year.

Hopefully Spurs give him that as a assistant trainer or something in 2017

I remember a few years ago Hibbert was training with Duncan in the off season.

That connection might still be there, and as a defensive big cog, Hibbert fits the bill. Financial wise it probably would be extremely small chance to work, unless he takes a pay downgrade to maybe rebuild his image and value for when the cap spikes.
