Just doing my homework..par par...:lol imagine Hibbert on a team with a history of valuing and building up big men...I fully expect even better defensive numbers..
Shot Contest%
Andrew Bogut 61% Field Goal% Allowed: 41.4% Points Saved Per Game: 2.08
Hassan Whiteside 59.7% Field Goal% Allowed: 46.5% Points Saved Per Game: 1.57
Rudy Golbert 57.2% Field Goal% Allowed: 40.4% Points Saved Per Game: 2.43
Roy Hibbert 53.9% Field Goal% Allowed: 42.6% Points Saved Per Game: 1.84
Pau Gasol 48.4% Field Goal% Allowed: 48.0% Points Saved Per Game: 1.14
DeMarcus Cousins 45.3% Field Goal% Allowed: 47.0% Points Saved Per Game: 0.45
Deandre Jordan 44.8% Field Goal% Allowed: 48.5% Points Saved Per Game: 0.17

Essentially what this means.is that Hibbert contested the 4th most shots, behind only Bogut, Whiteside and Golbert. But he was successful at holding them to the 3rd lowest field goal percentage behind Golbert and Bogut. Thus he saves the 3rd most amount of points per game.
The shocking statistic is that Deandre Jordan(the free agent everyone was after to be the defensive answer) not only contests the least amount of shots, he allows the highest amount of field goal attempts against him, and saves the least amount of points per game. DeMarcus Cousins according to this contests more shots, allows less of a field goal percentage AND saves more points than Deandre Jordan. Cousins is a guy who gets ragged on for his defense.
Not only does DeMarcus Cousins statistically contest more shots, allow a less percentage against him defensively and save more points a game than Deandre Jordan.. but so does Pau Gasol.. the very guy we harped on for not having any defense. Actually from this entire list, Deandre Jordan is statistically the worst defender.
Food for thought I guess, pretty interesting stuff. It truly does show how much perception rules the day nowadays
