View Full Version : Lakers: If Kobe doesn't win at least 50 games with the reloaded Lakers, his legacy

is deep fried.
At first, I thought the Lakers as currently constructed were a 35 win team tops, maybe much worse. But apparently I was wrong.
Laker fans like Luva and Kool are quite confident, boasting how the Lakers had the best off-season. Maybe they're right. Let's take a look:
Roy Hibbert - Can shut down the paint.
Brandon Bass - a better player than LaMarcus Aldridge.
Lou Williams - a dominant isolation scorer who can drop 20 at the drop of a hat.
DeAngelo Russell - the next Russell Westbrook.
Jordan Clarkson - Athletic combo guard who made the All Rookie team.
Julius Randle - Jury is still out, but Lakers fans seem to think he has Barkley potential.
How can Kobe NOT win with a roster this deep and talented?

On face value wtf do you think you got with LMA? I'm on the gd line as the first/only fellow that called him sterling in San Antonio and "someone else's garbage" with the 29 other teams.
No need to relent, but, you ain't my protege'. No fuckin' way.

This thread is obviously a response to Luva and Kool talking up the Lakers acquisitions like they're "sterling," while they talk down our pickups. Hell, if what they say is true, the Lakers should be enroute to 17.

We're still not the favorites. Need a backup center and maybe a wing backup. And then there's the fatboy to worry about. GS's roster is about perfectly built.
But if Kirby doesn't make the playoffs with this stacked roster of his, I'm going Armageddon on your ass.

I know you're trolling but I totally agree. You have to expect at least an extra 10 wins just by adding Kobe alone. Then you add three proven players in this league of the caliber of Lou, Bass and Hibbert... add another 10 games. If this team is fortunate enough to stay healthy and find chemistry which I think it will... you add another 10 games. Hello 5th seed. You gotta figure in 2007 they had a team much shittier than last years team. They won 42 games on Kobe's back alone. The next season they add Pau and Ariza and they win 57 games and lose in the Finals. Keep in mind we were in tank mode all of last season so they weren't even competing. I see us winning between 52-55 games.

Kobe can't carry the team like if it was 5 years ago. He has had two major injurys
in back to back years. As much as he wants, it wont be there. He will have a Sportcenter
night but they wont be regular. Will they still get run, they are a big market team. I predict
that they will end up a 10 seed lotto team again if Kobe gets hurt again. If he plays the whole
year a 9 or a 8.

The Lakers won't make the playoffs. If they do, they will be lucky enough to have the privilege of being swept in the first round by the San Antonio Spurs, just like they were in 2013.

No... I'm saying 50+ wins. You're not taking into account that we tanked last year with a scrub team. Now add Kobe, Bass, Lou, and Hibbert and you can reasonably expect a 30 win increase now that they are not tanking. Clarkson will become a known face in this league this year. Randle and and Russell are expected to contribute as young players. On paper we match up with anyone. With the exception of Kobe we're very young and athletic. Health and chemistry permitted... we make the playoffs and are a threat.

Your record was pretty much the same with or without Kobe, so not sure why you think adding him is some great addition. This is 2015 tosb Kobe, not prime Kobe, when is the last time he finished a season even? Counting on him playing the whole season is hopeful to say the least. Lets look at your other "great" additions. Lou was a sixth man voloumn scorer, Hibbert is a 7 footer who couldn't even average anywhere near double digit rebounds, and Bass is a decent role player, not a game changer my any means.
Of course you forgot to mention lost players, only mentioned new players. You lost Ed Davis who sadly was arguably your best player last year and Jordan Hill who was pretty good on the boards. I feel like them two are more or less a wash with Hibbert and Bass. So you are more or less saying Lou Williams and two rookies are worth 30 wins?
Again I say :lol

Meh, I'm not gonna say they will be better or worse with Kobe. Probably a wash with him playing at this point. Also depends which Kobe is playing. There isn't gonna be enough shots to go around this year though between Rapist, Lou, and Swag fag. Got three huge chuckers on one team. The rest of the team will just be waiting for the rebounds.

D'Angelo Russell needs the ball in his hands to be effective. Thats never a good thing when youre playing with Kobe Bryant.
Likewise, he will have to deal with the media, stardom, playing against NBA level talent, Kobe barking in his ear every time Kobe decides he screwed up and a coach who has no business coaching an NBA team.
Best case scenario is Kobe gets injured again early and doesnt do any permanent damage to Randle and Russel. Then the Lakers can just suck (because theyre starting two teenagers) and keep that top 3 pick.
