1. The Spurs can match the Warriors' small ball lineup2. Aldridge adds another strong decision-maker in the post to the Spurs3. Whatever the Spurs lost defensively this offseason, they've likely gained offensively

I wonder if the Sours will be able to run regular match-ups. Warriors would have trouble guarding both Duncan and Aldridge. With West off the bench, we can overpower them with the front line. Draymond agree is a good defender but this is a lot to ask for, assuming about gets the other player.

The whole "We'll make up in offense what we lost in defense" thing doesn't usually work out. We need to be a great defensive team, or at the least very good, and I think we will be.

There's one guy who can cover Lamarcus, and the Spurs just made sure that he's in the eastern conference.

that's why I m sick of all the shit Splitter gets (injury prone, soft) ... without him we do not win the 2014 championship. Its that simple ...

True. I want him back when he's an FA in 2 years.

Aldridge and West over Splitter and Baynes will definitely make us easily the hardest team the Warriors will have to try to beat. Splitter and Baynes are almost unplayable against their vaunted small lineup with Dray/Iggy at center/PF. Bogut and Ezeli aren't good enough scorers to warrant needing an active big man to fend those guys off; if anything, if one of those guys is in the game, the Spurs will eat them alive all day. Green and Kawhi are great and can make the Splash Brothers inefficient (though they'll still get their points, hopefully on many more crowded attempts).

The main issue is, what if we face off against Houston or Memphis in the playoffs. We no longer have Baynes to piss off Dwert, and against Memphis Aldridge will have to guard one of their twin towers, which will ultimately lead to a mismatch. Doubling off Tony Allen is fine, but what happens when they have 2 shooters in the game and Conley? LMA will be exposed, a-la McDyess/Turd Towers in 2011.

We have won 32 in a row against GSW at home. And Kerr legitimately fears us, saying we are their biggest threat.

If anything, by adding our new lineup we give them a better chance to beat us because the old formula worked 32 times out of 32. I respect gsw as the team to beat for other teams, but for us i am happy taking them on first round or wcf. Our biggest threat LAC got neutered, Rockets and Pelicans are the 2 teams i fear, both with legit big man centers

Remember, those 32 all came in the TD era, and most of those featured the Warriors trotting out "stars" like Antawn Jamison, Jason Richardson, Monta Ellis, Chris Mills, Adonal Foyle, Dean Oliver and the like...

If we are using that reasoning...then why didn't we win in 2013 with him? btw, I'll take Rasho Nesterovic any day over Tiago, tbh

Green was required for the Spurs to matchup with GS. Him on Thompson and Kawhi on Curry, the Spurs can shut GS down as GS won't have any Low Post scoring once they trade Lee.

What would be our line up against Curry, Dray, Klay, Barnes, Iggy?

In Europe it would be zone defense.

Reading the comments over there gives me the impression that GS fans are concerned. It's way too early, tbh. I'm just glad that the TD era isn't over yet.

Can't grab a rebound if you ain't on the court. Ask Rasho about 2006.

So the Spurs match up better against GSW and OKC and worse vs MEM (LAC lost Jordan so don't have to worry about their 2 big men lineup)? Is that a better trade seeing as there's less chance of playing MEM in the playoffs vs OKC and GSW?

I prefer Splitter (quicker feet) as he can guard the PFs like LMA and Griffin. Duncan's too slow to guard them now. Shaq ain't in the league anymore - no use in wasting $$$ on a center - a Baynes equivalent or vet big man should do okay against the league's big men. Only team to worry about is MEM (scoring big men).

Aldridge means the Spurs can exploit them in the post like Memphis did while still having quality wings who can hit threes and guard Curry and Thompson.

I think you guys are going to be surprised how much better a defender Lamarcus is when he's in a system where defense is encouraged, praised and rewarded.

What would be our line up against Curry, Dray, Klay, Barnes, Iggy?

Spurs will have options because at the 5 they could run TD/LMA or Boris and GS will have no defensive answer for any of them. When GS went small in the past, TD tended to kill them because they could not take enough advantage due to the Spurs team defense. That is how I seemed to remember it.

What would be our line up against Curry, Dray, Klay, Barnes, Iggy?

Parker/Manu-Green-Leonard-Diaw-Aldridge

playing at the one and 4 spot. Excellent floor spacing with all five players capable of hitting 3's. Two post up threats. If Aldridge can shoot over Diaw on the block he should be able to due the same against Draymond.

Diaw would be the the big mismatch in that lineup. He can abuse anyone of their wings on the block. They can't send doubles of the Spurs shooters.

spurspokesman

We will curb stomp there a**. There wings are reduced when they play against green and Leonard

Splitter can't take advantage of a smaller lineup on the offensive end. You'd better believe Lamarcus can.
