I swore I would not watch Game 7 after the Game 6 disaster, but of course I watched the entire game live standing up in my living room. No food, no drink, just standing silently. Thought we might actually pull it off, too, until Timmy missed the layup at the end. Once I knew the whole team was coming back in 2014, I had a sense that they might ring. Glad I hung on.

After last season, I was wondering what the future of this franchise was going to be. Now with a core of Leonard, Green, and Aldridge to build around, I think it is very bright. The only question mark is what the coaching situation will look like. It would have been nice if some of the Pop assistants had hung around to ascend to the throne in the post-Pop era. We'll see.

Been here since December of 08 when we ended up getting destroyed in five games against Dallas that playoffs. After we lost I thought it was over with Manu with a bad ankle, and Tim not able to carry the team anymore. Spurs had a speed bump in Richard Jefferson along the way, but we acquired Kawhi, Tiago and Danny Green and they saved our butts from going to mediocrity. Now we have two of the top five players at their positions in Lamarcus Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard, possibly even Tim is top five at his position also. '13 Finals were obviously crushing but Spurs fans who aren't in their 20s or younger know what it really is to be a Spurs fan and suffer the repeated heartaches. Some of the youngins who say that the '06 West Semis hurt almost as much know some of the pain. However, in both instances at least we could still fall back on the prior titles to alleviate some of the blow. Let's not act like it's all been roses and that poll going around gives everyone a chance to rank recent Spurs let downs. Have we really experienced true heartache during the Duncan era? It's all about perspective. This Duncan era is the winningest era or one of the winningest eras in NBA history. The Spurs are now mentioned as one of if not the premier organizations in professional sports. It wasn't always like that. Baseline Bum mentioned it in another thread, the '95 conference finals were just as crushing. Spurs fans hurt just as much as the '13 finals but what past titles could we reflect on to help us through? One of the more famous Spurs heartaches mentioned in that Suns thread the '93 West Semis maybe weren't as devastating but again, the Spurs were just a never was franchise at that point. The '90 West Semis vs Portland have to rank up there with any of the recent Spurs losses for that same fact.

The point is we really haven't had it bad during the Duncan era. We've been blessed as our team has given us so many great memories during their title runs. When you feel the Spurs have failed like this year vs the Clippers, think what it would be as a Suns fan. Even a Dallas fan as all they can do is think of that one title. You'll realize we've been blessed and throughout all the trials and tribulations we've made it to this point. This glorious summer. It's been amazing and I truly feel we as Spurs fans deserved this summer. We're all getting primed for another deep playoff run but just remember what it took to get to this point so you can appreciate what this franchise has given us.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, think about what it would be like to be a Lakers fan. Claiming 5 titles that happened in another city. Be thankful we're not as pathetic and disgraceful to have to stoop to that level. It's great to be a Spurs fan.

I've been a fan since 1995 and was a season ticket holder from 1997 to 2011. After that I looked around for a place to chat with fans and found this place. Did the politics forum until it just started being unending repetitions of the same positions from the same people. In the last two seasons, it has begun to feel that way around here. Nowadays I check in much more than I participate, but the conversations of the last few days have been reminiscent of some of the older and easier chats. So I have participated more.

Somehow, in my olth, being in the midst of a constant argument with people, on an internet forum or elsewhere, has lost a certain caché.

But except for a period a few months ago, when I left for personal reasons, I have been around seemingly forever.

Just a reminder, 'cause there seems to be too many debbie downers in here. This is a team that won 75% of its games last season and since getting all the current pieces toghether they were even better. They swept two teams in the playoffs and loss to a team that is great but (let's be honest) played a bit over their capacities (f.e: Ibaka going 55 for 55 or something like that, GTFO with that bullshit)

If the Spurs keep their pieces they will win close to 60 games even if they don't add an important player. Sure, it would be nice to switch Bonner for a player that has testicles but they're still good.

I know what you're thinking: "regular season champs", but you never know. One rival injury here, a Spurs' player stepping up there and you may find ourselves in an unexpected situation.

And even if these things don't happen, being regular season champs beats the hell out of being Mavs or Suns fans.

Somehow, in my olth, being in the midst of a constant argument with people, on an internet forum or elsewhere, has lost a certain caché.

But except for a period a few months ago, when I left for personal reasons, I have been around seemingly forever.

I was a fixture in the game threads in 2013-14, and have been in and out of ST since, but that has nothing to do with my fandom, and everything to do with the quality of posting around here. I gave up on the game threads because I got sick of the bullshit from idiots like quitterRob, and realised I'd rather concentrate on the game while watching it anyway. I then found the chatroom which is a better alternative.

As for the general forum, I must've missed the interesting threads in the snowstorm of trolls shitting on each other and any poor unfortunate soul that ventures across their path. So be it.

I was born in 1984 and attended my first Spurs game in 1989. I still remember going to see The Admiral with my dad at Hemisphere Arena. We had the crappiest seats, but it was amazing every time. Just like every other Spurs fan, I have felt every pain imaginable with some of the worst moments through this time span, but it makes you appreciate all the joy and championships. 6 was bad but it made 2014 that much better. I don't get the chance to go to a lot of Spurs games since I don't live in SA anymore, but I do have my own streak of whenever I do go the Spurs have never lost (even every Spurs/Rockets game in Houston, I never missed those). It also includes Game 5 of 2014 Finals...BY FAR MY BEST MOMENT AS A SPURS FAN.
