There are four teams that I think the Spurs would have a tough time getting past regardless of the signing. So I decided to do a bit of H2H research using www.basketball-reference.com (http://www.basketball-reference.com/)on potential opponents starters and likely matchups. Of course these do need to be taken with a grain of salt as matchups could change and whatever. After reviewing these H2H, I think the Spurs (didn't really need stats to show it) have a definite edge if Duncan is playing alongside Aldridge. What are your thoughts on these statistics and is there a better measuring tool that I could use?

Thunder

Aldridge vs. Ibaka (http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/h2h_finder.cgi?request=1&p1=aldrila01&p2=ibakase01)

Aldridge vs. Kanter (http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/h2h_finder.cgi?request=1&p1=aldrila01&p2=kanteen01)

Warriors

Aldridge vs. Bogut (http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/h2h_finder.cgi?request=1&p1=aldrila01&p2=bogutan01)

Aldridge vs. Lee (http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/h2h_finder.cgi?request=1&p1=aldrila01&p2=leeda02)

Mavericks

Aldridge vs. Jordan (http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/h2h_finder.cgi?request=1&p1=aldrila01&p2=jordade01)

Aldridge vs. Nowitzki (http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/h2h_finder.cgi?request=1&p1=aldrila01&p2=nowitdi01)

Houston

Aldridge vs. Howard (http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/h2h_finder.cgi?request=1&p1=aldrila01&p2=howardw01)

Aldridge vs. Smith (http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/h2h_finder.cgi?request=1&p1=aldrila01&p2=smithjo03)

I also only put the potential starters from the teams I believe would be the toughest WC opponents.

The individual big man matchups don't concern me. LMA/Duncan/Diaw/West are capable of guarding any big out West if it came down to it....

The hole is finding another rim protector to deter Durant/Westbrook/Paul/etc.....

As of now, Timmy is the only legit rim protector. I'd like the 5th big to fill that role as insurance tbh

Livio Jean-Charles to the rescue!

If the Spurs do sign him, then he might only be used as a small ball 4. The Spurs IMO definitely need a legitimate big (not a tweener) as a defensive rim protector. LaLanne did ok with 4 blocks in the SL, but I don't think he is fast enough laterally to cut off the drives by players like Mugen mentioned.

Good thing we still have one of the best teams in the league surrounding him.

The matchup that worries me are the grizzlies, ZBO + gasol could do some real damage in the post, and it's even a likely first or second round matchup

I don't get how the Cavs where able to engineer the acquistion of Mozgov.

Didn't they trade like 2 #1 picks for him? His salary is pretty low relatively speaking.

Why havn't the Spurs looked into Javale McGee? I know he's a fucking retard, but he's young, great size, and has great athleticism. Seems like a good pickup for cheap.
