Yeah replace that new knock off blacklist show they are doing in fall with this and it would probably get some great ratings. Looking forward to the strain coming back as well. Summer putting out better shows than fall it seems now.

The show was alright until the fags showed up, a show about hackers with gay anal sex? and on basic cable? Its starting to get old that every show is like this now, its almost like a rule or something that some guy has to get fucked in the ass.

Exactly. Reminds me of Fight Club in that regard. From the previews, I was worried that the lead actor was going to be annoying but he's perfect in the role. Also, that crazy ass exec in IT.
Christian Slater sticks out as not belonging but so far, he doesn't take up too much screen time.

I didn't know it was U14, that's pretty surprising, considering the content..that anal scene definitely crossed the U14 line IMO:lol..

The frustrating thing is they change the ratings from episode to episode on network shows. Tbh, I don't know if the third was U14. But the first two were. They did get more adult each time. The first had the molly reference and them laying in bed. No big deal. The second had the scene with the dealer walking around in tighty whiteys with his bulge (no homo) and talking about sex stuff. Then the third had the anal scene. And it wasn't a build up to it so we could see it coming. It went from them meeting at the club to some other scene then bam. Lol.

Anyway...good show so far. I need to check out episode 4.

Damn. I just watched episode 4 last night. Pretty trippy. Awesome stuff.

Yeah, nearly the whole episode focused on all of the crazy shit that goes on in E.lliot's head while he is having morphine withdrawal. Weird stuff indeed. We also learn that the brunette hacker girl knows the guy that blackmailed blondie and her boyfriend to put a virus at the security company, so I wonder what that's all about.

Darth_Pelican
07-23-2015, 02:13 PM
Very good episode last night. When E.lliot just degrades the hell out of the guy giving him the tour of the facility, he was completely defeated. And the hackers are evil as hell to send those texts to that guy's supervisor about her husband. They will do and say anything to get what they want. And damn, the guy that works for Evil Corp is crazy, and so is his wife :lol He walks into the bathroom and stands over the girl on the toilet, and she just spreads em. Every character in this show is just an absolute mess; brunette hacker's group fucked up the whole plan, blondie moves back with her dad and has all debt and no future.

Great episode. The week before was good with the withdrawal scenes but I was worried they were going to rely on that gimmick too much and keep it overly weird. But this one was solid and got back to the main story lines. I didn't think I was going to like the blonde character but I've done a 180. I think she's going to be a crazy bitch when it's all said and done.

Yeah the most normal female character on the show is the drug dealer (now waitress), so that's saying something. It looks like the preview for next episode will focus on the abusive drug dealer who E.lliot set up to get arrested. IIRC, he got E.lliot's gf kidnapped at the end of the episode.

It definitely has replaced the void left by True Detective although they are by no means a direct comparison. Although Ell is the classic flawed protagonist, what's more compelling is what seems to be his inherent personal conflicts with society (and himself) as a whole that permeates him entirely. You can see him bartering with others at times solely for his personal comfort and advancement, and he makes no long term false representation of that (usually a fleeting moment) as opposed to the Norwegian guy who is basically the complete opposite of him. Although they seem to have comparative abilities from a technological standpoint. And you can foresee a building long term conflict between the two, perhaps they save that for season two. His existence amongst others at a bare minimum for the reasons of survival and the avoidance of mass societal ostracism in a direct sense (as opposed to his choosing), is a trait that I'm sure people can relate to as there always seems to be a base contingency of people that just do not relate to the status quo.

The, Technological/Boondock Saint/Self Medicating Internally Conflicted/Vengeance-Seeking mash-up has been great, no complaints. I do question the longevity of the character. But they have done a great job having multiple plots running simultaneously. I don't see him and his blonde friend having any sort of long term romantic relationship even if it does arise for a period of time.

Yes, she knew. The scene with her and blondie at the beginning of this episode illustrated that they all grew up together. Elliott and his sister were childhood friends with her, and still are. Elliott is the one who has a hard time remembering things and deciphering fantasy from reality.

Slater (Mr. Robot) throwing Elliott off the railing still doesn't make perfect sense to me, because they still haven't given a clear answer whether Mr. Robot is a hallucination of his father, someone that looks like his father, or the far-fetched idea that it IS his father and is somehow still alive despite claims that he died. So was he pushed by an actual person, or did he jump? I'm still uncertain.

Evil corp, is that a nickname that the characters give the company or is it the actual name?

With a brand name like that who would want to make business with them? Specially now since the scandal.

I like this show. It has a lot of things going right for it but I'm not on board with the "is it real or is it not" aspect of the show. Could also do without the junkie part of it.

Otherwise, USA really hit it out of the park for once. Well done.

Good summary there. I think we all kew something was coming. But that was well done. I so hope it doesn't turn out to be your third scenario where his it's really his dad and somehow the body and funeral were all faked. Would seem pretty cheap.

No Tyrell in the finale but still very good. I'm gonna miss this show. I loved the Ashley Madison hack reference in the beginning :lol. And the confrontation between Elliott and Tyrell's wife was great. The suicide wasn't at all similar to the real life news shooting, but I guess I can understand postponing the finale for a week.

Solid ending, however many of the earlier middle episodes were the best of that season , but that's what kept me watching. Lookin forward to season 2.

Boring.

Show got pretty lame towards the end. I'm not digging the insanity of Ellio!!t. Is too much like watching a drug addicted on withdrawals. Those kind of episodes kills the mood fast.

Show had a strong start but it's kind of leveling out. USA is back to being a shitty network again.

Yep, nice peak into the next season. Price etc...........is intriguing.

Granted the last episode or two slowed down a bit, there's no reason to write it off. They've done enough work early on to keep me intrigued. The energy everyone wanted in the finale was expended two episodes ago, and it was a gradual decent into the finale. But there still is character development all-around that people are writing off because of this.

Finally saw the finale. Nothing wrong at all. I liked the scene with E and Wellicks GF. Made me wonder if E was Wellick. Reminded me of the scenes between DeNiro and Rourke in Angelheart.

I agree that at some point soon, E's craziness will get to be irritating. Especially if they continually use it as a Deus ex machina device.

But all in all, what a great and unique first season.

The black dude said "I told you not to look" and then proceeded to have his crew beat the crap out of him after he did. I think Elliott is just so wrapped up in his head regarding the Ecorp hack, the FBI closing in, and seeing his dead father that he didn't even realize that the black dude was clearly running some kind of illegal business. Fair point. But with an automatic weapon there's bound to be collateral damage. We'll probably hear that some other person died in the shooting next episode, but miraculously the two people in closest proximity will likely be neither. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the show. The Darlene interrogation scene was a little long, but seeing her reaction on how much INFO on the board they had was classic.

This season had very little direction with tons of confusion. Although I enjoyed it, I hope season 3 moves along with more story rather than mind tricks. Esmail messing around with us is fine, but I think he tends to overdo it at times. What I liked about breaking bad was that it just moved at a perfect pace with story, Mr. Robot is just inconsistent.

Season 2 was another silly reveal. I get the poetic license bullshit but eventually you have to call a spade a spade. They spent half the season on things that, in the end, didn't matter because they never happened. That's what happens when you don't have enough material for a series - you do the "it was all a dream" JR - Dallas bullshit. This time it was the "I couldn't reveal it to you" angle.

Still, pretty damn good show, lead actor is a stud and perfect in that role. It just feels like a rip off of Fight Club way too much. They take too much liberty with the 4th wall, which would be fine if it was a movie instead of a series that has to find a way to keep going. I lost trust in their honesty to the plot.

Season 2’s prison reveal is still the biggest mindfucker moment in TV, but yeah I think Season 3 tops it overall. That tracking shot episode was equal parts awesomeness and pretentiousness, kinda like the show as a whole.

i just finished season 3 yesterday... tbh the show lost a lot of momentum

season 1 was just fantastic through and through. its really funny, i was thinking it had a fight club feel with all the overly generic "fuck capitalism and society" stuff... but then it REALLY went fight club :lol

season 2 was fun too because of the prison thing, and price was always fun to watch.

i thought season 3 was a drag with highlights here and there (that long one-shot scene with angela, the finale was great too). when an episode ended in season 1 it was difficult to not continue and binge. didnt feel that way as i got further into the show

Anyone watched Homecoming yet? Sam Esmail certainly has a style.

so did my wife, and the reviews are great. i dno, the first half was such a drag to me that it became a chore to watch imo. the finale was strong though.

Bobby Cannavale and the Tyrell Wellick episode were both enough to make Season 3 fantastic imo. It does suffer from the problem where the main character has become the least interesting person on the show.

yes every scene with him was a treat. he killed it in the finale (see what i did there?). also the black dark army dude was really fun to watch.

and i disagree on wellick. dude was such an awesome character in season 1. in season 3 he was just an annoying shit, and i never bought into his whole religious meltdown thing. also angela's character had way too much back and forth throughout the series.

the actor who played dom's fbi superior was just terrible. i mean consistently was one of the worst acting performances i can remember watching on a major show like this. dom was mostly shit too. dont remember which episode, but there was a scene where they were arguing and it legit felt like 2 high school students auditioning for a play

Is anyone still watching this? Holy shit, Mr. Robot season 4 might compete with The Wire S4, Breaking Bad S4 & S5, True Detective S1, etc, as one or the greatest seasons of TV ever.

Ripped the series from Pirate Bay a year ago. I recently started reorganizing my music and came across this series. Will likely start watching maybe when I get home tonight. Is it connected to I.T. the same way 'Halt and Catch Fire' was?

I've been waiting, but now that there are 9 I may start. I thought the newest season of Top Boy was up there with some of those, too.

It's been a couple of years since I saw the first 2 seasons of TB. Were you able to just jump right in to the new season?

This has been my favorite season. The Central Park chase scene/music is the GOAT.

If the actor who plays Vera doesn’t win some kind of award for his performance, it will be one of the greatest snubs in awards history.

Spoiler below:

WTF @ Episode 11 :lol Looks like Mr. Robot is going full on sci-fi to end the series. So White Rose's "weapon" is actually a machine that created a parallel universe where everyone is happy. Of course it looks like Elliott is still fucked up in the head. Can't wait for the finale next weekend.

Would seem so out of place if it really is a parallel universe. I think this is all in Elliott’s mind. There is still the other personality that hasn’t been revealed, that could be the alternate Elliott.

Yeah, episodes 7-8-9 is about as good a 3 episode stretch as anything I’ve ever seen.

Yeah, could be. But what was the purpose of White Rose's machine being activated, and it looks like the Elliott in the current universe died from the nuclear meltdown? But they do show in the promo Elliott laying in the street, so maybe he escaped.

Edit: Also, Elliott in the parallel universe is having head issues (possibly from radiation), so yeah, your theory seems more logical the more I think about it.

SPOILERS:

Loved the ending, but it did leave a few too many loose ends for my liking.

1. What did Tyrell see in the forest?
2. There’s no way Dom running into Bobby Cannavale at the airport was truly a coincidence. What did he write in her book?
3. What exactly was Whiterose’s machine supposed to do?

The 2 year break killed the momentum. I rewatched the finale of S3 before S4 just so I could remember what had happened. S4 was damn good.
