Do the Spurs even want a player of theirs that they could fit into cap space without impacting LMA's max deal? There only seems to be a couple on their roster that fit that criteria assuming Tim's contract is 6M or less.

Theres a reason why he won CAA Defensive Player of the Year two years in a row in college.

He'd be an upgrade from Belinelli and a player to invest in for the future after his contract is up after this season.

Having him defend the perimeter w/Kawhi and Green for the next 4 years wld be okay I guess.

That would be nice. Someone mentioned that the signing just after the trade was interesting. Someone else said they couldn't trade Tavares right after signing him, but I couldn't find any confirmation of that in the CBA. Maybe someone who knows that stuff will chime in.
