How weird was it that RC began the press conference by thanking Arn Tellem? The same Arn Tellem who screwed the Spurs over with Lamond Murray in the summer of 1999.

Yeah, I had to make sure I wasn't in a bizarro world when I heard that.
WTF? Pop literally hasn't talked to him since 1999. I guess now that he's headed to the Pistons front office, RC figured he'd get on his good side.

The drugs might be clouding RC's memory.
Good thing Pop didnt conduct this. Zero chance in hell Tellum would have gotten a mention from Pop other than a fuck you mention.

I now i am asking a lot here, and considering the cap jump next year it really doesnt have a lot of sense, but it would have been great if Aldridge left 4 millions on the table (80 instead of 84 millions) so that the Spurs could secure one more signing.
Also as a gesture that he embraces the Spurs culture fully, i expected the same from Leonard. It seems that the likes of Leonard and Aldridge doesnīt fully understand what it takes to win it all the way Duncan, Ginobili and now Green Do.
I hate Spurs fans.

:lol No shit. I still can't believe how well this plan of RC's has worked now years after it was devised. But even then, you could plan going and getting a guy like Aldridge, Gasol, or Love, but who could have planned for getting David West for the minimum, Manu Ginobili for the room exception, or Tim fucking Duncan for $5 million? Or Danny Green turning down $20 million to stay? And a Baynes replacement for $2 million. And Diaw and Mills are still here in uniform. At the start of free agency my dream scenario was Parker/Green/Leonard/Aldridge/Duncan/Diaw/Ginobili/Mills/Anderson/Bonner/3minimum-salaries. And it's fucking Parker/Green/Leonard/Aldridge/Duncan/West/Diaw/Ginobili/Mills/Marjanovic/Anderson/McCallum/Simmons, and maybe Bonner too.

Duncan made max money, a number of years...the Spurs didn't win it every year during that span. is that timmys fault??
Yes, but Tim Duncan was at a time a franchise player wihout any doubt, Leonard and Aldridge are not.
Or to put it in another way, i prefer to pay 40 millions to prime Duncan and have him instead of that money divided between LA and Kawhi.
Itīs not that i donīt like them, is that i feel Duncan deserved it more (based on performance) and therefore i wouldnīt expect him to give up money if he could win it all "by himself", none of those two can do that. At least they have not shown that yet.

Wait, we turned down Barkley for TC and Willie, then TC blows his knee out, and now we replaced one of the best young point guards in the game in Strickland with some Italian homo named Vinny? :pctoss

Kawhi taking 80 million vs 84 million doesn't impact the Spurs cap situation at all for this off-season, he isn't officially signed (same with Danny) because the Spurs are maximizing their cap space right now. There's no obligation for Aldridge to give the Spurs a discount. If the Spurs want to attract the top FAs they can't just expect to get them on a discount.
Also with the cap going up as much as it is in the upcoming seasons these deals will basically become bargain deals. Taking more or less money has nothing to do with understanding what it takes to win.

tbh, this offseason makes me even more nervous in that regard... going forward, there's no way to top this, is it? I hope NASFs don't think this is the norm, tbh

To think how bleak/dispiriting Spurs prospects after Suns sweep in 2010 or 8 in 2011, and now we are soon to be entering 2016 as top 2 title contenders after a glorious 2012-2014 run :bobo

R.C. is the most socially awkward interviewee ever. :lol Even his verbal responses are full of obscurantist fluff, making the transcript of his interview really awkward to read. His sentence structure and choice of words is barely coherent.

"But what about the fifth wing and the sixth bigman :cry" :lol RC looks like a guy who hasn't slept all summer long! Go to the beach RC...of course after that 6th bigman is secure. Also thinking he might have just met Boban the Giant for the first time in person. Half the bigs in the league are going to look like that this season.
