He should spend no less than six month in the county. With cabs and Uber there is no excuse to be drinking and driving these days.

Few teams had Ty Lawson trade interest, but were waiting on Denver to lower cost. His value's cratered now. He needs to deal w/ his issues.

Isn't this his 3rd DUI? I seem to remember him getting one while at UNC.

But yeah, this guy's an idiot. How do you have all that money and not get a taxi or Uber? Hell, go out and get a fucking personal driver.

drunk driving is overrated. It is the only "crime" I've heard of that has no intent. And if no one got hurt, what's the big deal? Most traffic deaths are cause by sober drivers.

If Americans were serious about stopping it they'd set the BAC at 0.001

Its a trap for a money grab to give people the idea they can drink 2 beers in X amount of time but still pass a breathalyzer

There is an episode of the old "Leave It To Beaver" show from the early '60's that dealt with alcoholism. I forget the episode title but it involved a neighborhood handyman "Andy" (mid 40's) who was a known alcoholic, had lost everything to the bottle. "Ward" needed some help with painting the house, was going to work side-by-side with the man to ensure everything was kept upright. Unfortunately "Aunt Martha" takes ill out of town and Ward & June have to leave immediately leaving "Wally" in charge of his younger brother. "Andy" shows up for work the morning after only to discover that "Ward" has postponed the job until he returns. "Andy" wants to prove himself and talks "Wally" into letting him continue. "Wally" does an irresponsible thing here and runs off with one of his friends for a while leaving "Andy" alone with the "Beaver." Long story short he talks the Beav into disclosing where his father's alcohol is kept. His parents have not explained to the boy what "Andy's" problem, just that he's sick. We're not shown what happens here, but, "Andy" gets sodden in front of the child, does damage to the house, then flees the scene.

Commercial break,,,then epilogue portion of the show...

The Beaver is sitting on the curb, playing in the gutter with his small wooden boat. Not an urban gutter with filth & grim, but, a suburban cutter of fresh rain water runoff. He's humming & singing "My Darling Clementine" the tune utilized throughout this episode. He is oblivious to the world around him. "Andy" comes by, he's sober once again, and sits down next to this child---his shoes in the gutter. He apologizes to the Beaver for what has happened, and vows to return to the Cleaver house, make good with "Ward" and finish his work sober as a judge.

The kicker line here:::"Beaver, an empty life and an empty bottle go pretty much hand-in-hand." He rises from the gutter and strolls away, Beaver goes back to his boat & "Clementine."

what about the intent to drive while intoxicated?

Not an element of the crime according to the way the statutes are written. Drunk driving is the ONLY crime that does not require criminal intent nor a victim. Real crimes require both. Drunk driving = driving while black, both are bogus.

general criminal intent refers to your intention to commit the act. there are also no victims in prostitution, gambling, or general illegal drug use

Drugs laws are bogus, but at least they must prove criminal intent. in drunk driving, there is no intent proven. It might be possible to write the law to require intent, but this is not done.

Drunk driving = slavery = no criminal intent/no victim of crime

The government does not need to prove criminal intent in a drunk driving case. For example, suppose you were so wasted that you had no idea what you were doing, and then got behind the wheel and drove. You would not have any criminal intent, but you would still be guilty. That's bogus.

read up on specific intent and general intent. there are many crimes where the act in it of itself would demonstrate intent (as long as it's proven the act was committed by the accused). dui is not alone in this
