I know you have underlying issues and it is a shame that you are unwilling to accept/get help for them. No grown person goes on the internet and acts like a buffoon unless they are trying to escape something in their life. Life is tough man but the best thing you can do is try to work towards your goals and try to become a better person everyday. This macho internet mean guy thing might make you feel better in the short term but in the long run it will just inhibit your growth.

He also has the benefit of being a part of this team before so he would gel easily.

Personally, I don't have any good recommendations for self help books and I'm not sure how effective they are. Maybe seeking professional advice would be a better option for you? Im sure that they would be happy to recommend reading material to you in addition to treatment.
