I don't think some people realize how much of a steal we got with this deal. In a couple of years, that contract will likely end up looking like Steph Curry's current deal. The salary cap is projected to jump to $89 million next season, and $108 million the following year. That puts Kawhi at taking up about 20% and 17% of the team's cap respectively.

Based of their projections Spurs saved 134 Million from Kawhi, 29 Mill for Danny, 27 Mill for Tim, 11 for West, 5 For Manu and actually overpaid by 1 mill for LMA. 205 Million of savings this summer. Meanwhile OKC over paid Kanter and Singler for 39 Mill total :lol

Interesting that according to the article, CoJo is underpaid, while Bellinelli, Baynes, and Neal are all overpaid. :lol

He actually implicitly argued kawhi should have complained about not being extended, he implicitly claimed kawhi would not sign long term (with sources), he failed to ever acknowledge that the spurs held all the cards.

LeBron is the most underpaid still. He didn't make the list because he signed a two year deal.

Kawhi is young so his max isn't as max as other max and he signed for the most years. So all this article means is that kawhi is the most screwed under the cba than any other player unless you factor in risk associated with short term deals

I think it's because Kawhi's age and potential ceiling. But I agree, he's worth alot more than LMA but not double.

The article also says Greg Monroe has a higher projected WAR over 3 years than Aldridge has over 4.

and that monroe is worth 80 over 3yrs but LMA is worth 79 over 4yrs.

THe projection system used is known as CARMELO. No wonder it sucks.

Sam Presti I thought was known for managing a tight ship? Paying for Kanter and Singler???? Absolutely ridiculous. These are role players that never even cracked a starting five.

When durant bolts to a big market team next year (likely hometown WAS or an LA team) they'll struggle just to fill the arena halfway, and okc will have no choice but to move or contract as it hemorrhages money

$18M a year to play basketball for the NBAs top franchise isn't too shabby.

No, I just remember him talking about how Parker was overpaid (even though he has never and will never make as much money as Kawhi will in his 5th year as an NBA player).

If there wasn't a max Lebron probably could get 50 mil a year. I doubt Kawhi would get $40+ mil a year.

With this huge salary cap bump coming, wasn't it only 3 years ago the league was claiming bankruptcy that almost cancelled the season?
