What exactly separates Thompson from Gordon Hayward?

I'm of the opinion that the latter is a better player.

Legitimate playmaker, Underrated D, Good IQ, Scores in a variety of ways.

His biggest downfall is that he's being asked to carry a Jazz team when in reality he's a 3rd option at best.

How would Hayward perform if he had a teammate as good as Lebron or Mr MVP?

Of course Klay is a good player and he'd help GSW against the Spurs. That doesn't stop me from thinking Hayward is a better player.

Thompson is allowed to sort of pick and choose his spots and look for only great shots due to all the attention that Curry garners. Thompson can shoot corner/wing threes and elbow curls and make the occasional drive past all night. OP is right that Hayward is a better play maker. As to who is better, I think it's close. History will tell.

He's not a guy you build a team around but he's great as a number 2 or 3 option on a championship contending team like he was this year. Hayward has more versatility but he's in the same boat as Klay in the sense that you can't build a team around him as the number 1 guy.
