Lost in all the excitement of the off-season has been the status of Jeff Ayres as a Spur..it appears that his time here may be finished..

He will be missed greatly from an entertainment standpoint, tbh..

Those hands, those hands..we'll miss them..

He had a few solid outing.

At the end of the day, you can't blame a nigga for hustling 2 million dollars away from the spurs. It was really boylen fault.

Also, everyone loved him.

Can't underestimate the importance of a good teammate IMO.

We won't miss you Jeff, but know that we appreciated your effort.

Dude had the tools to be exactly what the Spurs needed at the four (great PF size, athleticism, shooting). It just didn't work out. It happens that way sometimes.

In fairness it was hard to tell he had the career fuck up gene from the videos that were available at the time

Ayres seems like a good guy. Though I enjoyed the shittalking and exstatic spinning. Least Ayres got a ring and improved in his time. Best of luck.

Ayers was a quality end of the bench guy. I think an NBA team will sign him for the upcoming season.

I was cautiously optimistic last year when he performed fairly well in Summer league. I thought he had turned the corner. But then again, IT WAS JUST SUMMER LEAGUE.

Maybe that was the moment he realized what spurfan saw in him each and every night - a fucking dude; in which he realized that he was absolutely useless in life and the only reason he's on any team is because coaches think he's a good cheerleader and could run down the court at a reasonable speed as well as occasionally jump.

Only the Spurs do this you : Boylen gets a ring and promotion to associate HC elsewhere instead of bad league rep for his pathetic recommendation and ensuing failure on supposedly personal project that's Ayeres :lol

Ayres did seem like a good teammate. I'm going to somewhat miss him as well as all the others(except Daye) we lost from the championship team: Belli, Cory, Baynes, and Splitter

I don't follow the SL, but wasn't Ayres underwhelming even in SL, despite being in his late 20s?:lol

I for one will miss Ayers. He's given some solid minutes here and there and been a useful enforcer at times. Also been a great source for moral support even when he's not seeing court time. If there's any chance they can keep him around, I hope they do. Doesn't deserve the level of hate he gets around here imo.

Agreed with this minus wanting him back. I like how he never sulked on the bench about playing time and he knew his role and supported the team. Unlike DeJuan Blair.

I've never seen a player give away so many fouls on offense when he wasn't even touching the ball.
Oh, and he couldn't catch.
Plus he missed half his dunks.

Thank god he's gone tbh

I don't remember, why the hell did Ayers play so damn much in that Pistons game? No wonder we lost ;), and was one win away from the 2nd seed :cry

I was on your side 3/4 of the 2014 season, defending you in game threads but...you were terrible dude. Seem like a great guy, hopefully you find a gig in the D league or overseas, you have sure made your money and got a ring. Thanks for being the third best cheerleader on the bench.

This. The man was a good teammate. Someone has to be last, no real shame in it considering the quality of our team and its depth. Timmy seemed to like him. And we'll always have that strange yet entertaining story about the hotel the Spurs stayed in being haunted thanks mainly to Jeff.

Not only that, but he also suggested that Ayres close games over Diaw.

Ayers is a better bigger Malik Rose. Been saying this for a while. Really really excited about this kid. When Diaw goes back to soft offensively, I'd play him down the stretch in smaller situations. Great rebounder.

You can support good dudes and wish them well and still not want them on the team or taking minutes from better players. He tried hard and was a good teammate. He just wasn't a good enough player to stick around. There shouldn't be so much shame associated with that. Hopefully he lands a gig somewhere and plays well.

Manu going to have a field day this coming season.

Errors was an interesting specimen. He had the size. He had the athleticism. He had the desire. He put in the effort. He played his role.

Unfortunately, none of that matters if you just suck at basketball.

Seemed like an alright guy...Tim seemed to like him....but good riddance, tbh.

Now we have Boban to overrate and throw under the bus fwiw.
