While I didn't get to watch any games this whole vegas SL seemed to be about what the team could do. even if we really only had two or three players worth a damn.

Are you sure he was shooting over 80%? Is that for the whole Vegas tournament? It seems like almost every time that I've seen him at the line, he's missing free throw after free throw.
Over the whole summer league which is a sizable amount, the guy has been drawing fouls like an MVP (see what I did there? lol). In all seriousness though the guy had been shooting about 10 FT per game with about 80%, but last game signs of fatigue the whole team was shooting ft poorly, and this game it continued. It is a sign of fatigue IMO.

What he could be and what he can do in the future is unknown, but this summer league for the Spurs was about him. Could he potentially in the future be a guy that you have as a leader of your bench. Its also kind of clear that Kyle has been working on a post up game, and you could see certain other facets of what they were trying to do with him. I think it surprised a whole lot of ppl, fans included, how much improved he came into SL and once he formed up a tandem with Simmons the both of them were unstoppable at times. Danny said it best in the interview, Kyle is ahead of the development everyone thought of him.

Props to Becky for getting the best out of him, possibly giving Pops some ideas with this tandem to be honest. And once they were so invested in this tournament and were in a roll, even if you saw all you wanted to see, you have to let them go all the way, even for Becky's development as a coach.

I honestly think that Anderson may have done better in the previous Summer League if he didn't have to have Austin Daye on the team. I really didn't even want the Spurs picking up his option last off-season let alone playing him as the focal point in Summer League. I thought he was horrible in last year's SL leadership wise. He had such horrible body language and didn't seem to prop up his teammates, lead them or inspire them at all. Daye looked pissy every time something didn't go his way, it seemed like he was sulking and feeling hard done by anytime that he missed a shot or made an error. Anderson did such a better job as the leader of the team this Summer League than Daye last year that it wasn't even close. I gotta give props to him.

I wonder if there was a bit of luck involved on how it all came together though. I wonder if the Utah Summer League helped shake off a bit of the rust and then signing J Simmons also seemed to bring them up to another level as they kind of became a dynamic duo and then on top of all that Hammon's coaching was great too. You bought up some good points there. I still gotta give them all props for going out there and doing it. Great effort from this year's Summer League team.

There is the added benefit of winning for these young, developing players, that if they keep winning, they keep playing, at least in the tournament. And, each game brings more experience, development, exposure to the coaching staff for improvement and evaluation. So, it is "just summer league", and the games don't mean much, but it is advantageous to win if you can.

We had the players, they had the team!

1. individually we were, clearly, the most talented team in the Final – if not for our opinion only, we had 4 NBA players back there [Alex Len, TJ Warren, Archie Goodwin, Josh Harrellson] – the only true problem was the total lack of team play at the halfcourt. We are designed to run and/or to look for fast break points but the Spurs deffended well enough the transition and gave us space to launch jumpers instead of going to the rim. Like Isiah, rightfully said, the Spurs run almost the same play each and every time but it worked. Our halfcourt defense was poor the whole tournament and tonight was no different.

2. what frightened me was how easy they controled our best players [TJ Warren, Archie Goodwin]. We can throw the "tired card" but if we look to the game closely enough, we see that they just tightened the interior/paint and just like that, the drives of both players are not going in, they start dribbling too much to get space – and boy, those handles were not looking good tonight [7 TO on both of them] – and it was down to missed jumpers. They are completely different players but both of them only know how to produce points in the paint and we just saw why thats a problem.

3. i love Alex Len but he disapointed me in the Summer League. Yeah, he looks like a good deffensive center. Yeah, he already knows how to use his body down low in the battle for rebounds. Yeah, he has a place in the NBA, specially nowadays where people just ask for his centers to alter/block shots. We know how valuable he can be. Last year we were a tottaly different team with him or without him. But man, this is the Summer League. Every time he received the ball down low, they [Spurs] fouled him or throwed some double team. You can be something special if you believe/work on your offensive game. Thats a part of his game that i wanted to see in this Summer League, so im disapoointed we just saw the same old Len. He’s good, but he can be great.

4. sad to lose the game in the effort point of view when we had a pittbul down there [Mike James], playing his ass off. 3 players in our roster had +30 points in this Summer League – thats something worth considering! – and i think we won 4 consecutive games (?). It was another fun Summer League, we went to the Finals – again! – and they had a taste of very differente styles of players, especially Devin Booker that looked rock solid on defense today, even with all those fouls. He covered well enough his man and was actually one of the few that looked reasonable in rotations. We missed the "gold" but we saw improvements here and there and our yong core just saw their values rised. Good for them. For the Suns. And for us!

5. Now, lets eat some Nachos in front of the coach/players when your rookie [Devin Booker] publicly said the most difficult part of beeing a pro is .. the diet! Gotta love PJ!

I have seen a lot of Mike James last season because he plays on the same team as Bertans.

He is a feast or famine type of player. When he is hot he can win you a game by himself, but he can also shoot you out of it. You would think that a guy that athletic would be going to the rim as much as possible but he often settles for pull ups. He reminds me an awful lot of Nate Robinson.
