Stupid ass wins the Bowl and he could pull this off easily.
History will show a one Dan Marino was extremely popular, owned Miami and the Fish were going to rock for years. After losing in the SuperBowl to SuperJoe Montana, asshat Marino demanded one more dollar then Joe got.

Ruined his rep in Miami, he went on to become a big stat padder on Miami teams that never sniffed another Bowl.

Learn Wilson, learn.

Those that know pro football have it....

Rodgers
Brady
Luck
Manning
Wilson
Brees
Big Ben
Romo

You can debate the position but not the fact they are considered the elite.

Pay the guy elite $$$$$.

That is easily on your elite list.

Allegedly this is in regards to the amount of guaranteed dollars more so than the actual total of the contract itself.

they are in win-now mode... hitting the reset button on the most important position isn't a wise move.

he's not their best or most important player, but QB is still the most important position, in that its the only spot you cant afford to have uncertainty in. he plays it at a high (though not elite, obviously) level. he doesnt deserve to be the highest paid player in the league, but it doesnt seem like he will be

The Gemini Method

So he wants to be paid on the guarantee along the lines of Suh. I'm guessing the FO will bow soon since they also need to re-up Wagner. With Earl Thomas the 3rd out until probably October, We'll need all the starpower we can use to stay afloat.

Cam being on a team who in 75%+ of his games have given up more than 21 points speaks to how much pressure has been on him to come from behind. Fucking disgraceful by our FO to put him into this position until now. Of course the one year he has a top 10 defense he goes 12-4. But I guess when you take over a 2-14 team, that's what happens.

The fact that this faggotesque game manager in his entire career has never had to deal with but 7 times his team giving up more than 3.5 scores, and every single time it's happened he's failed to do anything, should end any discussion of elite right here right now.

No he's not, that's why when the players picked their top 100 players for 2014 Flacco was way back there, while Wilson was the 5th QB.

Dummy, do you understand career stats at all?

Dude, do you understand the game at all? You come off about as dumb as rock. Russell Wilson is just a...THIRD YEAR QB...ok stupid? So you compare him to others after their...THRD YEAR...ok dummy? You don't compare a third year QB to a seasoned vet with 10 or more seasons ok? Do you get that at all?

Clipper Nation I challenge your dumb ass to show me another....THIRD YEAR..QB who compares to RW when it comes to stats/wins/SB;s....ok? Come on faggot who had a better.....THREE SEASONS. Well?

All of Wilsons first three year stats are superior to Flaccos.

They would just end up overpaying game manager. Game Manager + Awful New Orleans D, would spell disaster as he's failed everytime so far he's had to bail out a rare bad defensive showing. With such a huge clog in capspace, Saints would be in the cellar for years.

because you usually dont trade somebody that will stabilize your QB position for a decade

Darth_Pelican
07-28-2015, 01:26 PM
The Saints already drafted what they are hoping to become Brees' replacement. There's no way in hell they want to pay Russell Wilson 21+ million dollars a year for the next 5 years AND lose the best player on their roster in the process. That would set the franchise back a decade.

DD
07-28-2015, 01:31 PM
Wilson has maybe 5 years left as a starter with the way he plays...almost none of those QB's last "to stabilize the qb position for a decade." Fact of life

Darth_Pelican
07-28-2015, 01:44 PM
RW is never going to be in a position again to be able to play on the best team in the NFL AND be offered a 21 million dollar per year contract. For him to turn that down is just plain asinine. I'm sure a deal will get done by the start of camp, but if it doesn't because he tries to squeeze out another couple mil per year out of Seattle, then he is retarded.

spurraider21
07-28-2015, 01:49 PM

yeah, on second thought i agree. shouldn't have said the "next decade" but it ultimately could be a full decade from the day he started, i guess. still, even if he's eventually overpaid (seems that way), he'll likely hold the position down for the duration of that deal. being in a position where ur shopping for a QB usually means you aren't in the playoffs, no matter how stacked the rest of the roster is

Winningest QB in their first three seasons ever.
His stats on a par with any other third year QB in history.
No QB ever had more playoff success in their first three seasons.

Russell Wilson has had the best first three seasons we have seen from a QB.

He was just voted the 22th best player in the league by the players, the fifth best QB.

RW is great at what he is asked to do for his team, but in my opinion he isn't someone that could carry an "average" team to conference championship games like Aaron Rodgers or Andrew Luck did for their teams last year. He had the fortunate task of being the QB for the team with the best defense in the NFL. I know that isn't RW's fault. He shouldn't have to apologize for being on the team with the best defense in the NFL. I'm just saying, the word "elite" is thrown around way too easily these days. RW had a really bad postseason last year. His 4 interceptions in the NFC Title game was terrible, and so was his game clinching INT in the Super Bowl.

With this big contract, now the real test begins. Will he stay humble and work hard now that he has enough money to buy a small country. Will he be able to maintain his winning ways now that it will become harder for the team to pay all of those stud defensive players. They went and got him Jimmy Graham, so he has that working for him.

More is going to be asked of RW going forward. He's had a great start to his career, and now we'll see if he maintains it.

Nobody ever takes the time to actualy check up on what other QB's did in their first three seasons, if they did they would see why I'm high on RW. He came right off the bus and took over, how many others did that and had the success he's had? And having seen him at NCSt/Wisconsin I know for a fact he would be doing the same things on any team he played for. He left the college game as the top all time passer.

All this talk of his defense/Lynch is what those who don't understand the game talk about.

He's not elite... heck Philip Rivers was never called elite even at his best, back when the elite tier was Manning/Brady/Brees, etc. But Wilson is pretty good and Seattle won't be looking to address their QB position as long as he's around. He's probably on the back end up the top 10 in the league. I'm interested to see what he can do with Graham

RW is a great young talent, if you can;t see that you are one of the dumb ones. The players voted him the fifth ranked QB in the league. While Flacco was way back there. Now why did they do that? How come a guy like me who can name Chargers you've never even heard of think he's great?

Hard to believe RW has accomplished what he has in just three seasons. Amazing young talent, so much for that old....usually takes about five years.

I do think 2015 will be his best stats season, I do think they will need to pass the ball more, do see them being behind more. I have no doubts he has the best receiving gang he's had, with Graham making a huge difference.

I do see 2015 the season RW starts to shed this..."game manager"...bullshit.

I don't think you understand the game.

What you just desribed is why a QB has a better statiscal season. What happens in third in long because ya can't run? What happens when ya play from behind? In both scenarios, yep....pass!!!!!!!!!

RW left the NCAA as the all time passing effeicency leader, the guy can throw the ball, as we'll be seeing in 2015.

RW's passer rating second to none in three seasons.

Depends on Lockett, and Richardson. Richardson came on strong before blowing his knee out last season, and so far Lockett has looked really good in camp. He'll automatically assume ST duties, and has been getting work with the first team offense. Graham/Lockett/Richardson can and likely will be a good group going forward. I think the following season will be an indicator as opposed to this year due to Lockett being a rookie, Graham being in his first season with the team, and Richardson working his way back from an injury. Baldwin and Kearse will not be as primary as most people think going forward the next few years. They are more of a stop gap IMO until the other two adequately emerge.

i don't have to, you did not deny it. It is related, they traded their all pro center, lost their far and away best guard in carpenter, had a bad draft on paper and have 0 money to spare, lost zach miller their blocking TE and are left with Unger (great if healthy) and then their most paid olineman is freaking sweezy with just above a milion, the rest is literally scrubs and picks. Considering their qb can't throw much and runs half the time, it's really hard to believe he will get through the season uninjured. Even lynch, who is not human, has to have some sort of backlash.

spurraider21

predictably, they're significantly worse without Unger, especially with the run blocking. Lynch has struggled to get anything going up the middle. what i've found fascinating (and said in the game thread) is that seattle dealt Unger for Graham, yet are still trying to run their offense like they did the last 2 years. when you make that drastic a move, you have to change your offense around it... and they aren't. graham hasn't really been in their gameplan in the first couple of weeks. its mind-boggling

In the first game, he over threw him a few times to the point Jimmy sort of looked at him like "what was that". I can't believe a team as smart as the Hawks would trade an offensive lineman for Jimmy if they didn't plan to use him. I really do wonder if they are quickly finding out that Russ's skillset really isn't conducive to being a great passer in a pass heavier offense and that's why they aren't adjusting the game plan more.

It's way early and Russ has earned the benefit of the doubt but it's pretty damn curious to me.

I've been curious about their game planning and have raised that concern during both weeks. It was especially evident against green Bay, when their stubborn play calling kept giving the ball to an ineffective Lynch, and they only started moving the ball and scoring in the second half when they put the ball in Wilson's had and aired it out.

It was much of the same when they gave big money to zach Miller and only used him to block

on a serious note, the team is struggling because they do not have a good corner after sherman, so they are forced to adapt, especially in the slot and sometimes sherman is guarding TEs and that means the D is now somewhat playable. Still a top 3 unit, but you now need an offense, a thing that seattle doesn't have.
