It isn't glamorous. But it should be recognized. Please share your experiences. I will start...
A now-good friend of mine is named Martha. She was severely beaten when she showed up to the woman's shelter with her 4 year old son. She was distraught, helpless, and hopeless... Martha today isn't perfect, but she is fully employed, her son is enrolled in school, and her sustenance off the taxpayer is down to Medicaid and food stamps.
I'm quite proud of what she has accomplished, and her growth pattern.
