Where do u rank bullet Bob Hayes among cowboys receivers? Just a speed threat or legit receiver?

Training camp news:
Byron Jones has been looking impressive so far. They wanted him to be more aggressive and he's responded.
O-line is kicking the d lines ass. However, d-law has been looking good, Gregory has shown flashes and hardy is hardy.
They've been taking it easy on Lee and holding him out of some drills.
Lachey seastrunk and Randle have been the best backs along with dunbar.

Bullet Bob was a running back in HS and at Florida A&M, and returned punts in the NFl, so he could run with the ball. Why he wasn't used more underneath is a mystery to me. The Cowboys were dead set on reminding everyone he was an Olympic 100m champ. So they used him as that sideline blurr more than they should have.
His 71 career td's and his five seasons with 10 or more TDs (not that common back then) make him an all time great not just a Cowboy great..but...if you are using "legit" as a could he do it all then I have to say no but only because he wasn't there to be that. He was there to back off safeties and chunk yards/TD's. In that role he was sensational.

Anything short of a Superbowl ring would be a disappointment. As with most teams, the defense is a huge question mark.

i was impressed last night by the young guys. la'el collins looked nervous his first couple snaps but after that he really looked like the best player on the field the rest of the game. i don't see him taking the starting guard spot, yet, but i wouldn't be surprised if he is put in the starting lineup this season.
byron jones had an okay game. i prefer they line him up at safety instead of corner. with scandrick, carr, claiborne(smh) and now corey white(who also looked good) we should be okay at corner. line byron up alongside of church so we can use his speed to cover sideline to sideline.
i don't know what to say about the d line just yet. i really wasn't that impressed and felt like they got manhandled on that first drive. on the bright side, gregory did come up with a sack which is huge for his confidence.
gus johnson looks like a good goal line runner and thats about it at this point. he reminds me of a watered down marion barber. the coaches really like him so he'll get plenty of opportunities to make the team.
damian wilsonhttp://i61.tinypic.com/107t107.jpg wilson looks the part. our linebacker scouting has been A1 the past 2-3 years. if lee or mcclain go down, i have no concerns with hitchens and now wilson stepping in. here is what btc said about him in may:
One of Broaddus' pet cats for sure here, Wilson plays with impeccable instincts and good speed. He's got great smarts for the game and can diagnose plays with the best of them. Like many players worthy of Marinelli's genius, Wilson plays with a chip and has a relentless effort. Wilson is durable and rarely comes off the field, for a team that can use some depth and competition at linebacker, Wilson would be a great addition. He's tough both mentally and physically and is an above-average tackler in this draft. He's a finisher, something you can never have enough of.

Curious about why this is something you care about. If Romo gets pasted in the preseason and is out for the year, does that make people stupid who didn't predict it?
I'm excited for the season, as I think the Cowboys have a reasonable chance to do some damage if they continue to commit to the running game. If JG goes back to the throwing game like he did two years ago, the Cowboys probably won't make the playoffs unless the Eagles stumble even more.

For real? I'm interested because a lot of Cowboys fans that I've spoken with seem high on the team until asked that question. Of course if there's major injuries that changes everything - why even ask that?
Its about if the team is reasonably healthy, what do CBF's think is their legit ceiling.

its fair to say the team has the talent to do big things. it's not safe to predict an injury free season

Isn't that kind of assumed in these types of discussions? You plan for what you can when answering - assumed health. If a team is healthy, do Cowboy fans legit think they have Superbowl winner talent? Just playoff talent? Just outside playoffs? Wonder what real fans think is a successful season based on the talent they have (healthy).

I wonder what would have happened if he broke Dez's jaw. Would that be over the line just because his punch landed? Or no big deal because fights/throwing punches in training camp is just a common deal? That's why throwing punches (IMO) is different than just pushing and shoving. These fights can have real consequences.

Dallas decided to go ahead and put hits on Rams WR Brian Quick who was wearing one of those non-contact yellow caps due to offseason shoulder surgery...
Then during drills(Dallas D vs Rams O) the Cowboys(Randy Gregory) repeatedly went a little too far in driving a couple Rams RB's into the dirt at the end of a few consecutive plays.
Then you have by all reports Dez (who wasn't participating in practice btw) standing around talking smack on the sidelines for two days. The majority LA Rams fans in attendance were also heckling and talking too much and Dallas players were getting annoyed.
Add all that up and the already chippy Rams went after Randy Gregory after he put Tre Mason's dick in the dirt on two consecutive plays. Greg Robinson went after Gregory and that sparked the whole thing.
Dez put his helmet on to run across the field to the scrum, and at some point for some idiotic reason he took it off and got what his loud mouth deserved.
Despite what the media says, those who were actually there are reporting that both teams elevated the trash talking(no surprise there) but Dallas instigated physically after the whistle and the Rams offense basically went after them and finished it. There were cheap shots on both sides but i've seen about 4 different vids and Dallas got punked. :lol
Anyway, shit happens. Everyone is jumping on the dirty Rams bandwagon but didn't Dallas have a scrum with the Raiders at a joint scrimmage last season?

I think we had this discussion earlier when Dez and Patmon got into it, which by itself isn't a big deal, but it starts to say something about team discipline when this follows it. Teammates in pads taking swings early in camp is one thing to set the tempo for practices, but I think a full-out brawl where guys are cheap shotting each other from behind, ripping off helmets, and sucker punching is way over the line and is an excellent way for people to get hurt. It's not such a big deal if you're the Rams, who are a shit team, but pretty unacceptable if you think you're a super bowl team to allow your players to act and react like that. I think Dez was extra stupid for running into the fray when he's supposed to be recovering (why was he even in pads?), and I heard that he ran onto the field the previous day to confront someone. Since there's apparently nobody on the coaching staff exhibiting any leadership to control the team, hopefully Dez getting cracked in his stupid face will teach him not to do something so retarded from now on, though I guess we'll have to see. I figured a team that would hire minders for a player would use a camp fight as a teaching moment for him weeks ago, but it looks like that's not the case. It's why it's so hard to commit to a prediction about the Cowboys. I can see a scenario where they go to the super bowl and I could see them looking up and finding themselves 6-10 as well.

We did have that discussion. I agreed with you about Dez doing really well overall, but throwing punches (especailly at teammates) just crosses a line to me. Then you have this follow and what if Dez got hurt? Even though it's the norm, it's pretty silly.

I think football is probably the only sport where I'd consider it acceptable at all, and two teammates going after the whistle and then making up just makes for a tighter team. As for the rest of it, I'm in complete agreement with you. That other circus is just a sign to me that neither coach has any handle on what his team is doing, and if that's what they do with the rope they're given, I hope JG fines his players the next time they throw after the whistle, even in camp.

DPG21920
09-06-2015, 02:02 PM
Most teams seem to have 4 RBs. The question is: Is Randle any good as a starting RB? Is McFadden durable enough and have anything left in the tank? While it looks good on paper, no one has impressed this far.
Trill Clinton
09-06-2015, 02:11 PM
some teams have 4 backs but only 1 back sees any snaps. we have 4 backs who can all play a role and have all played a role in the past. that is what is so good about the 4 backs we have. mcfadden injured? okay we still have randle, michael and dunbar. randle struggling in a game? okay mcfadden, michael and dunbar will step up, etc, etc.
also, we have the best offensive line in football. they holes they opened up for murray last year were insane. randle showed he is capable of running behind the line in limited opportunities last year. as far as this year, our starters barely played in the preseason. the main focus was keeping everyone healthy to start the season. we'll see how it all comes together next week:stirpot:

If you don't run the ball, you not only give the other team more possessions (and thus opportunities) but you also increase your chances of getting INTs because your offense becomes predictable. Additionally, they can drop 7 into coverage and what are you going to do then?

Dez out 3 to 5 weeks with broken bone in foot; Gregory the same with medium grade sprained ankle. Both will likely return Sunday the 18th October after bye week on the 11th

See you avoiding the quetions on him - your thoughts on his play and events tonight? Did he look prepared to you and how do you need an IV at home in the first half of week one? Was he sick?
It looked like he was winded and a little unfocused, but the injury seems to be pretty unlucky (unless it was him out of shape due to the preseason).

Also, could all be a coincidence, but is it a good sign with the pre-season fights (multiple) that he's out most of pre season, comes out seemingly unfocused, is de-hydrated and then injured after getting his money?
He seems like a guy who works hard and loves to play, but it's not interesting to anyone else?

They also had their best season in a long time being a running team. Romo looked really good tonight (espeecially decision making), but the run game for the Cowboys is very important.
Harry Callahan

Romo throwing 40-45 times per game will translate to 8-8 guaranteed.
This years schedule is also not very forgiving.
I like the fact that Jerry is becoming a more of a figurehead and not the decision maker anymore. Will McClay, Jason Garrett, and Stephen Jones seem to be running the show now.
Demarco Murray would have been nice to keep, but too many other offensive players are highly paid already (QB, LT, TE, WR). You can't pay everyone huge, guaranteed money like that. Marion Barber was overpaid at roughly the same age as Murray and fell apart.

i wasn't avoiding any questions. you need to have patience, fam. i was entertaining guests and had no time to really sit down and reply. yes dez looked prepared . dez had 7 targets and caught 5 of them. as far as pre season, dez didn't hold himself out of those games. garrett chose to be careful with dez and held him out of the pre season games. one thing i won't do is question dez being in shape or unfocused.

You run the ball when you're up 2 possessions. You run the ball when you have a top 5 defense. They scored 2 TDs on the last 2 possessions on a total of 12 pass plays and zero runs. The results don't lie. You can win pass only. The packers and Rodgers won a superbowl with practically no running game.

This. It was sorely lacking. Even watching from home the team and crowd was deadwe needed a big play. Long drives are great but if you end up with a Fg and have NO big plays the crowd stays flat. Horrible energy from team and crowd until late for a season opening key divisional game. Deeps is 100% right on this and Dez should be called out.
HE threatened not to play this game and basically he did not even after he got his money missed most of camp, very disappointed in his effort. he claims to love his team and I appreciate his passion but he need to wake the fuck up as a professional.

I agree with Depps there is some issues with Dez, but I also agree we dont use him enough or well. The way the Steelers use ABrown, Giants used ODB last year, Falcons use Julio, Broncos use DT should be the blueprint. Dez has far less targets than those guys, but more TD's. Staff has improved but to become elite Dez should be able to get touches despite double teams or bracket coverage.

far less??? omg, last year yea he did because we ran the ball more than any team and dez still led the league in TD's. in previous seasons dez was in the top 5 in targets and receptions. the difference between us and the other teams you mentioned is they lack other elite receiving options, thats why they have to force the ball into double coverage to those guys.
DT sacrificed catches last year to julias thomas and sanders. julio was the only option the falcons had last year so of course he'll see most targets. same for Abrown(best wr in the league) and ODB.

The Cowboys along with Green Bay and New England likely comprise the 3 best passing teams in the league. In the first case you have a very good QB and a great offensive line, while in the second and third cases you have great QBs and very good offensive lines. I don't quite agree that the Cowboys would go 8–8 this year trying to play like the 2010 era Packers because back in 2011, 2012, and 2013 the Cowboys' offensive lines were mediocre at best and the defense was far worse (usually ranked near the bottom, at least it's mid-tier for the moment without McClain/Hardy).

I'm not saying he should accept a minimum-level salary or anything. It's not about the owners being billionaires and the players being millionaires. It's about the salary cap, and thanks to the fuckery that is the IRS Jerry can't just pay Dez too much under the table (obviously, he can pay for him to have 5 course meals, massages with happy endings, and escorts 365 days a year, but he probably already expects that). The Seahawks just lost to the fucking Rams, giving up 34 points... Chancellor is one of their premier defenders, so his bitchiness is largely to blame for the loss. its time to unleash gavin escobar. witten is so good that it causes the staff to not use the young TE's much but gavin has great hands and is a big target in the endzone. i want to see more 2 TE sets in the redzone with him and witten giving linebackers and safeties fits.
running game is still a work in progress due to most of our backs being injured in training camp but overall, i was impressed with our backs. randle carried 16 times for 65 yards and also had 42 reception yards. 19 touches over a 100 yards, i'll take it. our backs in the passing game tho? linehan finally used dunbar in the reggie bush role he's been promising since he got here(not his fault since lance has been injured often) lance is a legitimate threat out of the backfield and teams have to gameplan for him now. mcfadden looked rusty as expected. plus, we were playing catch up so that limited the amount of runs we had. its only week 1 so i'm not to worried, yet.
o line proved they are still the best line in the league.
gotta give it up to mo claiborne. dude balled the fucc out! contract year for him so he needs to really show why he was worth the 1st round pick and deserves to be signed long term. he's had an impressive camp, glad to see it carry over to week 1. salute.

Well if it's a business, then it's on Dez to be ready and in shape while holding out. Dallas held up their end and paid. He was the only one out of gas, needing an IV in the first half and having major drop (he's the star and paid like it). Now he's injured and put the season in serious jeopardy (could be related to his fitness?).

he looked focus and fully healthy to me. are you saying he got paid and broke his foot on purpose? not once was it mentioned during training camp that dez showed up or looked out of shape. it was the opposite from reporters and blog sites. maybe you know something they don't and saw dez struggling during camp? everything i read about him and his conditioning has been A1 from day 1. again, if you have information from other writers who can say otherwise, i'm willing to read it.
i doubt he was dehydrated, i think his foot was broken and they used the dehydration thing as an excuse to get him to the locker room to check his foot out. he tried to play on it but as we saw, it was more serious than they thought finally took him out for good.

What? There is no way he broke his foot when he went to the lockeroom and they let him come back out. What kind of logic is that?
The issue with needing and IV was completely seperate unless you have info from people saying otherwise? I'm saying he held out, missed a lot of pre season and perhaps didn't do the work necessary to stay in shape because he was worried about is money (which is fine, he deserves to get paid).
What's more likely, the Cowboys held Dez out of preseason to protect their asset but risked him playing in GM1 on a broken foot? OR he was out of shape from not doing as much work as he should have while holding out/missing pre-season (even if coaches gave him that order) so he came in out of shape, neede and IV in the first half, was rusty (big drop in a big moment) and then injured himself because he was not fit?

Now, is that any way to live? Money isn't everything, especially if it's a difference of say, $40 million versus $80 million to live on after retirement. It's not like we're talking about $600,000 versus 6 million or 6 million versus 60 million. If you're not a gambling addict or a dumbass, there's no way you should need more than $10 million to live on once you've got your mansion and fancy cars paid off. I'll never blame an athlete for getting as much as they can. Not everyone is Tim Duncan (and even Tim got paid a ton before he took discounts and football players have short careers). I do think that it's on the player that is holding out to stay in shape in anticipation of a deal getting done.
He was still getting paid during the holdout (I think). If that's the case, he shouldn't need an IV in the first half of game one at home. No one else had that problem. I'm not saying he broke his foot on purpose. I'm saying maybe in the course of holding out, then getting his money, maybe he didn't work as hard as normal. Maybe that lack of training/fitness led to the foot injury which now put the team in some serious peril.

are you familiar with dehydration? you know you get it from fever, no water or too much exercise. maybe dez didn't get enough water pre game and was playing so hard he got dehydrated. i don't see how you're trying to use him not being in shape in training camp as a reason for dehydration. as i said earlier, according to coaches and writers, dez came into training camp in great shape. being out of shape isn't a sympton listed in the link below:

You miss my point. # of targets is not the end game tbh, the point is using him in creative ways. If it leads to more targets, great! If not, it should open up more dynamic plays forr the rest of the team. I like the emphasis on the run game and hope this loss of Dez for 4-6 weeks forces the team to remain balanced. but I still dont think our team does a good enough job of getting the ball to Dez. Linehan has been much better as a play-caller than Callahan/JG etc. but for a guy making the money he does we need to use Dez better. The raw talent he has, the great hands ...he has been great but he could be better imho. Some of it is on Dez some of it on the OC and Garrett ...

Like I said Julio

Really? I may just be pessimistic but Dallas to me has one of the weakest WR corps in the league. Dez made them good, but if Twill is your 2nd best WR & Cole Beasley is your 3rd, that's bad IMO.
All the other top offenses have way more legit 2nd/3rd weapons. Cowboys seem really thin there on talent/potential.
Green Bay: Jordy, Cobb, Adams, Jones
Det: Calvin, Tate
Atl: Julio, Roddy
Denver: DThom, Sanders
Etc...
Most teams seem to have a much better top 2 WR core, but Dez was so good that he made up for it. Sure Cowboys have Witten, but their actual WR depth is a little scary for me. Could work out, but doesn't seem like a sure bet at all.

I think you are being pessimistic tbh We are absolutely loaded with talent but questions remain. Can Lucky Whitehead and Devin Street step up and make plays? Can we lean on our backup tight ends Escobar and James Hannah a bit more? Will Brice Butler work out? We certainly can't turn the ball over like we did and expect to win without Dez, that's for sure. The running game looked pretty good, and Randle looks ready to take the reigns as the full time back. He can also catch out of the backfield and has shown he can also run pretty good routes. No need to hit the panic button just yet imo

I'm just talking about WR depth. Romo looks great. The o-line is incredible. Run game looks good enough to gain yards on the ground or via pass.
I don't think anyone is really hyped about any of the WR's on Dallas outside of Dez. They do well because Dez is a monster and Romo really good, but are they talented like most other WR 2/3's? I don't think so. Doesn't mean they can't funtion, just means it's a serious question mark in my mind.

he's been a pet favorite of mine for about 2 seasons now, he's been wildly productive in preseason for a couple of years now, and has had some good NFL moments. he just doesn't get to the field much. he'll do better on a team like the cowboys than he would with the raiders

On why Oakland let go of Brice...
“It was a deep group,” said Head Coach Jack Del Rio. “We had six receivers we thought were pretty good players coming out of camp. It was a situation where with some of the injuries we had at safety, we were considering what we might do. Dallas was looking for a wide receiver and I think there was a match where they had a position of need, we had a position to get available, so there you have it.” -JDR
http://www.raiders.com/news/article-1/Head-Coach-Jack-Del-Rio-Discusses-Trade-of-Brice-Butler-To-Dallas-Cowboys/fd7a8c04-fa3b-4f92-b742-756bbf4753e6
Scouting Report says his only flaw is that he is inconsistent; sometimes drops easy passes
Name: Brice Butler
Position: WR
Height: 6-3
Weight: 205
College: San Diego State
Draft: 207th overall by Oakland, 2013
Games Studied: 2015 preseason vs. STL, MIN, ARZ, SEA
Report: Brice Butler has all the measureables that scouts look for in a receiver. He’s listed with 4.39 speed coming out of college, but when you watch him play, it takes him a few strides before he is hitting top gear.
I would not call him a sudden player or initially quick, but he can cover some ground once he gets going. He had a nice slant in the Arizona game where he showed a little burst inside against press coverage. Was used on bubble screens out of the slot where he was able to get going once he had the ball in his hands.
He dropped what would have been a sure touchdown on a “stutter- go” against Seattle, where he sold the route well – then was able to gain vertical separation. Showed good body control in that same game against the Seahawks, where he got behind the corner and was able to high-point a ball while getting both feet in bounds. He absolutely had to find space on the play, and he was able to do that.
There are snaps where he plays like he is tall, or too upright, when he is running routes. He’ll almost come to a stop to make a cut or curl back for the ball. He will need work here to be cleaner in his routes. On a similar note, I would like to see him take more of an advantage of his size when running his routes. He gets beaten up going down the field -- needs to fight the defender better.
He turned down a slant against the Seahawks where he took a peek at the safety inside and didn’t finish. He does have an idea of what to do with the ball in his hands. He had a touchdown against St. Louis where he caught an option route underneath and showed a burst into the end zone. He's got some versatility the Cowboys' coaches will value, as the tape shows him having experience to both line up at the "X" -- Dez Bryant's primary position -- as well as in the slot.
For a tall guy, he’s got a knack for making tacklers miss in space. He has talent to be more than just a flash player, but I would like to see him be more consistent with the opportunities that he gets.

when healthy Cowboys WR corps is fine. Williams is a solid #2. I agree with Deeps, Romo helps him look better than he is and I have my doubts about him in a #1 role ...But I think Twill could be one of the better #2's and Beasley is poor man's Edelman in the slot. He broke his foot on the slant for first down right before the end of the quarter. The next play they sent him deep and he went back to have it checked. Don't know why the PR people said he was dehydrated.

The Maturation of Romo
Infamous for his failures in the clutch, Tony Romo worked hard to fix careless mistakes and is now changing the narrative.
Cris Collinsworth said exactly what I was thinking as the Cowboys exulted after their second Tony Romo-led touchdown drive in the last six minutes beat the Giants on Sunday night in Texas. “Tony Romo’s taken a lot of heat over the years for not playing in the clutch,” Collinsworth told America on NBC. “That was pretty darn strong.”
The next test for Romo and the Cowboys comes Sunday in Philadelphia. But last Sunday, there were two plays—one on each 70-plus-yard touchdown drive—that showed the maturation of Romo, and why the Cowboys, even without Dez Bryant for probably half the season now, are such a dangerous team.
First, to Collinsworth’s point about Romo. In 2012, Romo had games with five, four, three and two interceptions, and Dallas lost them all on the way to a disappointing 8-8 season. He was a great stat quarterback, but also too careless, and he knew it. Check out how his 2012 season compares to two years and a game since, including two 2014 playoff games:

#2??? Witten is the ultimate #2 receiver for any good team, tight end or not. Beasley is fine in the Welker/Edelman role and we also have Lance Dunbar going out for short passes which he's gotten really good at catching. Those type of plays are usually good for 5-7 yards and are as good as running plays with a star RB because they keep the chains moving and the other team's offense off the field, even though the vast majority don't turn out to be big plays or anything. The Patriots have thrived off these type of plays for 15 years and have won championships with worse defenses and receiving cores than what the Cowboys have, with or without Dez.

Weeden is nothing special, but don't sleep on him. I think he (along with our improved D) can't keep us afloat without Tony and Dez for a while. Here's how I see the next 8 weeks going:
@ Falcons: Loss
Saints (no Drew Brees): Win
Patriots: Loss
@ Giants: Win
Seahawks: Loss
Eagles: Win
@ Bucs: Win
@ Dolphins: Loss
That'd put us at 6-4 on the season. I could see us losing at N.Y. too though so at worst 5-5. Then hopefully we get Romo back for week 10 against Carolina. Could easily still take the division.

Stupid. Cowboys wouldn't pay 42 million but didn't offer him pennies either.
The attack on Sunday was pretty balanced. Team finished at 33-34 passes to rushes respectively. The play he was injured on wasn't the fault of shitty pass protection either, was a mild tackle but shit happens.

ever since scandy man got hurt in training camp this season has had the injury cloud over them. dez, romo, gregory, lee, leary...key guys we need hurt. hardy, mcclain on suspension hurts but we knew that was happening coming in.
so far, the failure to establish a running game and the defense has let us down in both losses. i know we're thin at the d line and lb but we haven't made any adjustments to stopping the short and intermediate routes. two weeks in a row we let the qb set in the pocket and pick us apart with dink n dunk passing. imagine what tom brady is going to do next week.
the offensive line did fine last night but weeden has the worst pocket awareness i have seen. dude just drops back and stands still in the pocket smh. i do give weeden props for not completely being trash but it isn't enough. we don't have the players to get by with weeden. its a shame we got to the point where we're clamoring for matt cassell to start. hopefully the front office addresses the qb position in the draft or has a plan for a competent backup if/when romo goes down.
i'm not giving up on the season like a lot of fans. only 4 games in, a shaky division with wins against both the giants and eagles. anything can happen in the nfl and i want to see how the defense responds with hardy, mcclain and gregory coming back and playing as a complete unit. i'm ruling out sean lee coming back next week. its hurts to say but he might want to look into an early retirement. the injuries and concussions are just too much.

Told yall I didn't have a good feeling about Lee. Then Dunbar got hit too. Cowboys did an awful job at building their skill positions IMO. There were too Dez reliant and it's really showing now with no talented RBs, no talented WR's (TWill is an ok 3rd WR, but not great IMO) and no depth at QB.
I get it, they invested into their o-line which was really smart; with Romo/Dez healthy they easily are the best team in their division. These injuries just killed them though.

They just don't seem to have the RB that they need to establish the running over a full game. McFadden seems to be done. Now Dunbar is out. Randall is good for what he does but he's not a true RB that can run the ball up the gut and get a yard or two out of nothing. Anytime the linen is stacked, McFadden, Randall, and Dunbar never seem to even get back to the line of scrimmage. I don't know that Christine can do that either. They didn't do him any favors giving him the ball in a crucial 3rd and 1 when the defense knew what was coming.
The play calling was awful IMO. Run run pass. Run run pass. Run pass pass. Seemed like it was always 2nd and long. Until they were in a hurry at the end. Saints secondary was weak and getting penalties all night. Should have attacked them more and them more early then break off some runs.
Easier said than done I guess as Weedan's throws are pretty damn inconsistant.

Easier said than done I guess as Weedan's throws are pretty damn inconsistant.
yea man, having demarco back would benefit us and him. he was the perfect back for our system. i thought randle could handle being an every down back but he's nothing more than a change of pace guy. he's good to spell the starter and take advantage of a tired defense but he doesn't have enough to carry the load. DMC is trash. losing dunbar sucks because we finally got to see what he can do with getting more playing time/staying healthy.
agree with you on the playcalling. linehan and garrett haven't done anything to help the team other than make the offense vanilla as possible and give weeden 2 reads with nothing over 10 yards. but at the same time, we just don't have the personnel to be an aggressive offense the entire game like we saw on the last offensive possession. i think asking weeden to win games without an above average defense and the only reliable playmaker being a hurt witten, is asking him of too much. he did okay last night all things considered. but okay from weeden isn't enough.
oh year, bonehead brandon carr's holding penalty really hurt us too. i can't wait for that guy and his inflated contract GTFO:bang

agree on Demarco. I didn't think it was that critical with a healthy Cowboys team but then need that type of back now.
the 12 men was a killer. Then shuttling players in on the play in OT.
The only reason this game was close was that the Saints coaching and discipline was even worse. Was Payton really wondering if he could refuse the player out of bounds penalty? then burning the TO on that challenge.
Hopefully, getting the defensive players back next week can at least put some pressure on Brady. But it's just about the worst possible timing to have to play the Pats.
They might as well put McFadden at QB. He's got a good arm and can at least run (sort of).
I'm also concerned about how Romo and Dez come back. Everyone seems to think it's automatic that they win those games but there's gonna be some rust on both of them.

there will be some rust with dez and romo when they come back for sure. but just having them out there will make defenses have to account for them and will help getting the run game going. i'm just ready for the bye week to hurry up and get here.

yeah...Hardy looks like a beast. Not sure if he got tired the 2nd half or if the Pats changed things around. Probably a little of both.
Pats have too many weapons for most teams to deal with anyway.
I didn't think the defense was as bad as the score indicated. All those 3 and outs kept them on the field too long.

it looked like they double teamed him and had the running back chipping him on some plays that second half. they also subbed him out quite a bit. once he fully knocks the rust off and we get gregory back, our pass rush is going to be fun to watch.
the offense is just frustrating to watch. linhehan and garrett need to stop being so conservative and just let it rip from the 1st qtr. i prefer them being more aggressive than just settling for runs and 1 read pass plays. they know its witten or bust for us and they double teamed him all day. lol poor weeden has been the check down king 2 weeks in a row. he's completing all his passes to the backs.

Offense looks terrible. I agree with you. It's not like they were getting anything besides 3 and outs all night. Might as well take shots down field. an update on dez
Dez Bryant (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5558/dez-bryant) has promised to be aggressive in his rehabilitation from foot surgery, and that included traveling to Colorado last week to get a therapeutic injection.
According to Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys wide receiver had bone marrow stem cells removed from his hip and injected into his ankle (http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/dallas-cowboys/20151011-cowboys-dez-bryant-gets-injection-which-jerry-jones-says-will-do-two-things.ece) in hopes of speeding the process of healing.
Bryant had surgery Sept. 14 which included a bone graft to help repair the fractured fifth metatarsal bone.
“It will do two things,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said of the injection. “It has the potential to improve the healing time but more important gives him and everyone more confidence that when he comes back, at whatever the time is, it will be sounder and I think that was the overriding reason for doing it. It will be sounder even if he kept the same timeframe. It could easily speed it up, but if not, what you’re always going to be worried about [is] if you
wait another week maybe you’ve got less chance of reinjuring it or basically rushing it. That will give us more peace of mind on rushing it. . . .
“He’s shown exceptional in his healing,” Jones said. “I feel the procedure and how he’s doing gives us a good feeling that if we feel like he can handle the sensitivity then you feel like you aren’t being too aggressive in letting him get back out there. That’s the big thing.”
The Cowboys are hoping he can return by the end of the month against the Giants, and they’ll take all the help they can get offensively.

They don't even have a legit number 2. At best, TWill is a low end 3rd WR on a good offense. Their running backs haven't shown anything either. They have had moments but not nearly enough for a team that was supposed to be good. This shows you just how good Romo & Dez truly are. They made it look good with some really truly limited talent.

No...TWill is a legit #2. But you gotta have a #1 to make a legit #2 effective. And you have to have a QB that can hit him once in a while.

Nah - Twill isn't a number 2 - at least not a legit one on a good team. Jordy Nelson goes down, Cobb steps up. Calvin misses time last year, Tate goes off. Demariyus goes down, Sanders steps up.
Twill may be a default number 2, but he's not a good one and that's the point about just how bad the Dallas skill positions are. One of the worst in the league.

maybe not a great #2. I think you said he was a low end #3 which seems way off.
In any event, I don't think you can grade him based on having a back up QB making the throws.
But yeah...the CB suck at the skill positions and have zero depth. This is the first time in a long time that I can't rattle off all of the backup WR.

no doubt. RB is an issue. But without Romo and Dez, it's made it pretty easy to play to stop the run. Especially when they don't have a premier RB.
But there aren't too many teams that can withstand losing their starting QB and franchise receiver (and a top RB) and still do well.
Right now all the weaknesses are magnified because they don't have their top 2 playmakers which makes it too simple to defend this team.

yep, defense was great. We had like a million chances in the first half to take control of the Pats game, and I would bet that the Cowboys would have won if Romo/Dez were out there. The defense collapsed in the 3rd quarter because they were on the field for oh so long and the Patriots were able to finally find one of their patented rhythms and simmer in it. Had the Cowboys not gone 3 and out on like 6 straight drives in the first half, the defense would have been rested and the pats wouldn't have had anywhere near 30 points... as I said before the game, the defense would impress but the offense would lose it. Another great prediction by the phenom UNT Eagles 2016

When asked how he felt about being demoted after three games as the Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback, Brandon Weeden didn’t hold back.
“How do you think I took it?” Weeden said Wednesday. “Obviously I’m pissed.”
“I told them (coaching staff) how I felt,” Weeden said. “They know how I feel. They know I’m pissed.”
Weeden said he would handle the decision “as a pro,” not make excuses and not “throw a pity party for myself.”
Asked if he was being made a scapegoat for an offense that has struggled on several levels, Weeden said, “You guys can dictate however you want to perceive it. I’m not going to comment on it. Like I said, I don’t want to bring the attention to me. I don’t want to say something I shouldn’t say. I’ve got my feelings. I’m going to keep them to myself and go from there.”

Coming into this game I really liked our chances against the Giants. A healthy pass rush and a 6 game win streak against them gave me that confidence. After that loss, I say we sit room and dez the rest of the way.
im a Garrett defender but the guy has no emotion and holds nobody accountable. He claps and encourages every fucking thing and I hate it.
cassell reminds me of a discount Chad Pennington. Weak arm but somewhat accurate. I rather him than weeden. At least he's going to take chances downfield but it's a 50/50 chance the pass will be picked off.
the run game and o line was the bright spot. We stuck with 1 back(thanks to a randle injury) and it paid off. McFadden ran with a purpose and had confidence in his abilities for the first time this season.
Demarcus Lawrence is a scrub. He was supposed to be the successor of Demarcus ware and he hasn't done shit.
brandon Carr......Brandon Carr better not be on this team next year. I'm tired of even repeating how much he sucks.
mcclain was rusty and really screwed us with that 3rd down penalty.
church and Wilcox are bums. Byron jones needs to be inserted into the FS spot and send Wilcox to the bench.
T will has stone hands, Cole Beasley was hyped up all training camp. All you heard about was how nobody can cover him and he has been Casper the friendly ghost without romo. We still need a #2 receiver.
we need a kick returner. I hated losing Dwayne Harri, dude was good at special teams, returning and covering. Beasley looks nervous back there and can barely catch the ball cleanly.
the Greg hardy incident. As a cowboy fan, I know our team is always under a microscope. I know during the game, the production crew will put the camera on jerry in the press box, Jerry on the sideline and they will show every sideline argument, shouting match, etc. every team goes through that. I have no problem with hardy yelling at a special teams coach or dez passionately getting his team fired up. Again, this is nothing new. Michael Irvin, Charles Haley, Leon lett, Keith Davis to name a few are players we've had who played with chips on their shoulders and got in teammates faces or argued with coaches. Larry Allen yoked up Jose Cortez after a missed field goal and I loved it! You will not find one teammate, current or former, who will call those guys selfish or cancers. Football is a violent sport and expecting these gladiators to act like choir boys after a self imposed mistake against a division rival is stupid.

Solid take.
Bottom line...lots of needs. Everything weak gets exposed without Romo and Dez.
With all that's lacking, they still had a good chance to get a W last night. But mistakes sealed the loss.
The obvious killers last night...TWill stopping the route, the shorter int. that Cassel threw...the penalty
Beasly trying to catch that punt overhand in his palms? weird
Looking forward, it's hard to give them more than 5 wins on paper. Even as weak as this division is, I don't think 7-9 makes the playoffs.
They won't do it but I agree that they should just rest Dez and Romo.

stephen jones talk with g bag nation
Mark Lane @therealmarklane (https://twitter.com/therealmarklane)2h2 hours ago (https://twitter.com/therealmarklane/status/658690335258710016)
#Cowboys (https://twitter.com/hashtag/Cowboys?src=hash) COO Stephen Jones tells @gbagnation (https://twitter.com/gbagnation) the offense got into a good flow with Darren McFadden and the running game.
The defense did some good things, but they need to get better on obtaining takeaways.
he has no explanation why the turnovers are not there. Marinelli coaches it constantly.
La'el Collins did well. He brings a lot of athletic ability and youth to the table; did a lot of positives.
the offensive line did a great job of protecting Matt Cassel yesterday.
the #Cowboys (https://twitter.com/hashtag/Cowboys?src=hash) will see where Joe Randle is health wise. He had back spasms yesterday.
#Cowboys (https://twitter.com/hashtag/Cowboys?src=hash) didn't really need Joe Randle after Darren McFadden got hot and rolling against the #Giants (https://twitter.com/hashtag/Giants?src=hash).
#Cowboys (https://twitter.com/hashtag/Cowboys?src=hash) know Dwayne Harris is a good football player. They thought Beasley was a better #3 WR though.
#Cowboys (https://twitter.com/hashtag/Cowboys?src=hash) knew that Dwayne Harris would be missed, but unfortunately you have to make these decisions.
letting Dwayne Harris go was just a case "not getting to keep them all."
Greg Hardy's attitude is not something to be concerned about. And he's not the first to get frustrated.
Greg Hardy's outward frustrations are part of what help him be great. It's not an issue; teammates respect him
the team is still interested in a long term deal with Greg Hardy.
Greg Hardy is a guy that is interested in being involved in the community.
Morris Claiborne is having a really good year. He's gaining confidence and there's a "good chance" he returns
he was not nervous about Dez Bryant being on the sideline. "He's close to being able to play."
Dez Bryant is a very optimistic guy and it's good to have him around the football team right now.
You could see Byron Jones more and more at the safety spots.
Byron Jones has a big responsibility this week against Jimmy Graham. Did a good job against Rob Gronkowski.
Jeff Heath can bring something to the table at the safety position.http://i58.tinypic.com/2czysn8.png
he has a lot of belief in the coaching staff, front office. Everybody believes in this football team.
the media has a good platform right now to be critical, but there are 0 thoughts of team not being together
the #Cowboys (https://twitter.com/hashtag/Cowboys?src=hash) deserve to be 2-4 at this point.
he can't imagine Cole Beasley not being the punt returner against the #Seahawks (https://twitter.com/hashtag/Seahawks?src=hash).

"Zero, none at all" - Stephen Jones on if Greg Hardy actions are any concern at all.
"Absolutely" - Stephen Jones on if the team is interested in a long term deal for Greg Hardy.
"We know one thing, we need him on the football field." - Stephen Jones on Byron Jones getting more snaps.
"Yes I can't imagine he's not going to be" - Stephen Jones on if Cole Beasley is still the PR.
sign hardy to a long term deal?http://i61.tinypic.com/990t2r.png

a better look at hardy w/ the d line:

looks like most of his frustration was at lawrence and crawford. both guys, along with hayden are playing like total pussies this year. get in their ass, greg!!!
