Local Islamic leaders said residents' outrage reflects unwarranted paranoia of Muslims.

They (Gentiles) were never meant to now abide by Old Testament Law as a result of becoming Christians.

Now, there are plenty of passages from Paul's letters in the New Testament that Christians ignore in favor of other ones. Women covering their faces and remaining silent during worship, for one. Baptism, etc. Plus the whole Love Your Neighbor thing from Jesus himself.

Except those instructions include the big ten commandments. Nothing in the new testament sweeps them away. "I come not to set aside... but to fulfill".

One has to do an awful lot of tap-dancing to make enough excuses for not following the Bible's imperatives.

Modern Christians who ignore such things are using the same secular calculations that atheists do, in order to determine what is moral and what isn't. That's why I find it funny when they try to claim the bible is the source of morality. It just isn't.
