They can carry 20 in the off season, including training camp. They are currently at 18.

I believe you can have up to 20 players going into training camp. Then it has to be cut to 15 by the time the season starts.

Here are some SL highlights while he was playing with the Cavs:

Shannon Scott signed with Toronto yesterday.

My guess is that they probably wanted him, and when that didn't work out they went to plan B - Sykes.

I actually liked Shannon Scott a lot, not to run the offense through, but as a complimentary defensive PG with other guys taking the scoring and playmaking burden, he was nice in SL. Probably more of a chance for him in Toronto. I wish him well.

Like Ndoye, he is likely destined to go to Austin after being cut at the end of the training camp. He looks like a damn fine player for the D-League and is considered to be one of the best undrafted PG this year. If he does well in Austin, I wouldn't be surprised to see him following the Bryce Cotton path and being called up by a NBA team.

that's cause their coach just dumps it to him whenever he runs out of set plays. Flubbed a crucial basket which ended their season against the eventual champions. Legitimate scoring threat at times but has tunnel vision. Shot won't work in the NBA.

I was also under the impression that Deshaun Thomas was going to force his way into camp. He would be 19.

Yeah, I was rooting for Graham in SL, but he didn't show me enough to get on his band wagon. Seems like the last game things seemed to click. May be a good guy for Austin this year. I also expect Deshaun Thomas to come to camp this year.

Sure, why not? He's a hometown guy and could get a few minutes in preseason before they cut him. He had the fourth-highest assist total in NCAA history. It would be different to see a point guard that actually looks to pass first.

He has been measured at the NBA draft combine at 5' 10.5" without shoes and 5' 11.75" with shoes. He is a legit 5'11" and could even be listed at 6'0".

Sure, there's some exaggeration in this thread, but, even if he was six feet, which he doesn't quite appear to be, a six foot point guard is still on the low end of the bell curve for size at the position.

I question the point of this post. I don't know my motivations so take this purely at face value:
Did he say anything about the relative size between PG's and his place on the spectrum?

I thought his point was that there were people saying this guy was 5'8" and such and he was clarifying and questioning those specifics... specifically.

So why are you responding with bell curves and what end of the spectrum this guy is on with Bruno?
With all due respect, of course...

I know he was referring to people saying the kid is 5'9", etc, but I was just explaining that a lot of the exaggerating about him being short is somewhat understandable. He is not a tall point guard. Nor is he even average height. He is of below average height. Sure, the posts have been wrong about his height, here, but coming back and saying "but he really is almost 6' tall" isn't exactly a ringing endorsement of his stature.

And why spend all this time justifying this kind of hand wringing over a Toro?

he is apparently 5 feet 10.5 inches

I thought I was being pretty clear that he was of below average height for a point guard in the NBA. Of course, he is of completely adequate height to stand in line with us at Walmart.

Since I read the Spurs signed this kid, I looked at several youtube clips. Highlights show he has some hoops. One thing I noticed that stands out, he has a great 1st step when you drives. He can hit the step back 3 pt shot and if the defender crowds him, he can go around him. His stats from college are against lesser schools but he showed he was a good ball handler and shooter.

Just a word to TP, PM and RM. Get your butts in gear or this kid will be knocking on the door.

Pop said the last preseason games that he'll play the rotation.

Sykes was given the opportunity to play. Bonner, Fredette, Ndoye and Thomas didn't log a single minute.

Butler seems to already in the inside track, so that means that either Bonner or Fredette get cut.

However if Sykes stays, then both Bonner and Fredette get cut.

Lol @ Anyone who thinks Bonner might be cut.

With all the turn over, it actually makes sense to keep Bonner (even if only at the beginning of the season.) He's one guy Pop and the coaches don't have to waste time with teaching them where to go, etc. And he's not a malcontent if he doesn't play. Yes, Matt may very well become a casualty later on, but in the chaos of all the new faces, I think he has a great chance to remain on the team by opening day at OKC.
