How much would replacing 4 windows typically cost? Would anyone recommend Lowe's or Home Depot's installation services? Are they over-priced and do they do the job right?

Any other places like Window World or Dura Shield recommended?

I'm way too lazy to replace them on my own.

Installation at Lowes/Home Depot is approximately $200/window ... on top of what the window actually costs.

It wouldn't hurt to call around. I'm in the process of remodeling my home....Window/Door installation is the next DIY book I'm buying for User. :lol :lol

i'd just call and get quotes. it depends on what kind of windows you're replacing too.

Are you looking to replace the whole window or just the glass?

The whole window. It's an old house and the window frame is beaten down.

We've generally had better luck getting a carpenter that friends have recommended---both in quality of the job and cost

Well, if you need any glass replaced in some areas, the person that did mine was very reasonable.

Me and my brother used to break windows all the time because we used to live on a Golf Course and there was like no yards cause the houses were close together so we'd play baseball and stuff infront of the house. :lol

A guy here at my work got a quote for around $450 for a large double window from Home Depot. I don't recommend a beginer to try and do this themselves. It's a 3 out of 5 hammer job! :lol

The price varies a lot depending on what type of window and if it's in siding or brick. The windows that are made especially for "slide in"replacement like Pella and Anderson are obscenely expensive.

I would say about $1600.00 for double paned windows
