Unfortunately, these are just the most recent examples in a long line of cases where Wiley exercised his discretion in a manner that was especially harsh toward low-level offenders.

The courthouse staff that overheard Ford mentioned it to Wiley, who then took matters into his own hands.

I don't have any problem with an adult being held accountable for sex with a minor. Yeah but the girl was still technically a minor, even if a 19 year old with a 17 year old is not really sick. You've gotta make a cutoff somewhere because if you say a 17-year old is a legal adult, then you'll have the same scenario with a 18 and 16 year old. Move it down again, then have a 17 and 15 year old and so on so even if unjustified, it's still understandable.

Some states have Romeo and Juliet laws for this.
