It was Iguodala last time, and they see Kawhi slipping into that role easily. He'll also shoot better than Iguodala, a big plus in FIBA ball.

Aldridge has a salty history with Team USA and has yet to wear the jersey. Love's three-point shot, rebounding ability and fruitful relationship with this program could vault him up list, but he needs to be healthy and less culpable on defense. He's still a very good player, and it's interesting to think about how/whether LeBron James will influence Love's inclusion.

Tier 4: 3-and D Hunger Games
SG Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, SF Jimmy Butler, SF Draymond Green, SF Paul George

Every team needs three-point shooting and impenetrable perimeter defense. All five of these players offer that, in varying degrees. Leonard feels like he should be a lock. Coach K can throw him on the other team's best player and virtually guarantee an emotional meltdown by the third quarter. Thompson's shooting is lethal for someone his size, and Green is the type of pugnacious competitor who's desired by every basketball team in the known universe.
Butler and George aren't brilliant spot-up shooters, but their two-way versatility makes them intriguing names to throw in the hat. (Considering what happened last summer, George's standing with Team USA is more fascinating than anyone's.) It's hard to see more than two making it from this group — ”which is a shame — but Team USA can't go wrong with whomever it chooses.

My way-too-early prediction on who makes it:
Guards: Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, Kyrie Irving, James Harden
Wings: LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Klay Thompson
Bigs: Dwight Howard, DeMarcus Cousins, Blake Griffin, Anthony Davis

I've been saying this since for a long time. I don't know if it's because of the jump shooter reputation or what, but not a lot of people seem to realize that he's the exact same height as Splitter, only he has a longer wingspan and he's nearly 25 pounds heavier. The 240 listing is from when he entered the league and they listed him at 260 in the press release, but he said entering camp last year that he was 268 and that he was actually down a few pounds from where he had been.

I think it's fine. Kawhi last year bulked up a bit and as the season went along he slimmed back down. He's not playing full games day in and day out like he will in the regular season.

Curry (reign MVP), Harden (runners-up MVP), Anthony Davis (MVP candidate), Klay Thompson, Kyrie Irving, Manimal, etc, etc, all played a lot better after playing in last year Spain World Cup. Terrible poster like always but anyways Coach K didn't save US basketball the fact is the '04 team was garbage. Nobody on that team could hit open 3's. The strategy was to clog the paint and force team US to hit the open shots but nobody could hit open J's. None of the guys on the team were good jump shooters. Also the team was super young with Wade,Lebron,Melo. Those guys were not in the their primes yet and were not the players they would become later on. That faulty thinking is as stupid as Laker fans believing Parker and Ginobilli were all-star players back in '03. On top of that the team was filled with a lot of crap in having Odom,Okafor,Boozer,RJ,Iverson,Marbury .If you are going to diss '04 how about bringing up '06 when Coach K failed to beat a Greek team filled with garbage and ended up making a fat 300 pound slow non athletic black greek guy look like Shaq in that game.

Another thing you have to consider is the '03 team USA team that qualified for the Olympics was superior to the crappy '04 Squad. The '03 team easily beat Argentina in the Fiba tournament of the Americas.
